Hi. On 01/09/2012 I activated a 50mb data bundle. I used up the bundle, and now I am being charged 99c/mb. The 30 days of the bundle is not over yet, am I not supposed to pay 15c/mb until the 30 days is over?

I see on my online statement that I have been charged 99c since the 10/09/2012. Before that it was at 15c/mb

Piece of advise, if you open a data contract ensure that it is pre-paid and not post-paid to prevent little surprises like these.

I am on prepaid. My airtime dissappeared very quickly, that's why I checked my online statement. I loaded R12 (lowest on Capitec cellphone banking) on saturday, made a call of 1min50sec, checked email and facebook on Saturday afternoon, and today I am left with R2.61 airtime. No way that I used 50mb data over the weekend!

I thought I was seeing things! This is happening to me as well, in fact, I think I am even charged 99c per MB even when I have purchased a data bundle.

Something is very wrong here!

HI

Please can you PM me your numbers that you loaded the bundle on, i'll have a look in to it.
If you were incorrectly charged i'll get it sorted.

Point to clarify. If u on 99c package the price is 99c/mb. If u buy a bundle then 15c/mb. Once bundle exhausted 99c/mb is default rate

That is simple, but it is not what is advertised. I read that if bundle is exhausted (in bytes terms) OOB is 15c/MB till bundle expiry time. Then reverts to 99c. Correct me if I am wrong.

If bundle is exhausted you revert to 99c.
Don't they advertise an out-of-bundle rate of 15c/MB?
i.e. that's the rate you pay when your bundle is depleted?

That is what they advertise but in reality it kicks back to 99c/MB.
This happened to my Kid when he finished his bundle it charged him the 99c

OP must scream at CellC to sort it out and they should pass a credit.
This is what I will be doing on the weekend.

I am trying to find where I saw that- Will post a link when I find it...

Ok-Here goes

ALL DATA PACKAGES

Cell C drops standard data tariffs to R0.15 per MB for in and out-of-bundle usage.

The new flat rate applies to all prepaid and contract data bundles and packages from 1 August 2012.

Cell C bundles start at 50MB for just R7.50, which is the most affordable entry-level bundle in the market today.

Thanks for this.
Did you Pm Cell_C to investigate.
Will be interesting to see what they say.
Sent PM this afternoon. Waiting to hear what the story is.
I also sent an email to customer service yesterday, but have had no response yet.

Update:-

So I phoned customer service today. They are aware of my email query, and now I have also received a reference number. They will get back to me in 24-48 hours.

Hmmm looks like this happened to me too... Ran out of my bundle recently and my airtime seemed to dissappear rather quickly.

From myTools:
CellC 27/08/12 07:28 Read
100MB Bundle has been successfully activated on your account. Cell C
From Telephone: +27840001357

From my account:
Date and Time Type Volume Amount
26/09/2012 09:59 Data 949.08 KB 0.92
26/09/2012 09:59 Data 1.79 KB 0.00
26/09/2012 08:51 Data 1.30 KB 0.00
26/09/2012 08:51 Data 197.67 KB 0.20
26/09/2012 08:20 Data 1.24 MB 1.24
26/09/2012 08:20 Data 1.34 KB 0.00
26/09/2012 07:28 Data 8.13 MB 8.05
26/09/2012 07:28 Data 3.59 KB 0.00
26/09/2012 07:17 Data 23.12 KB 0.03

Looking a bit further I found this:
24/09/2012 17:43 Data 4.47 MB 0.67

24/09/2012 14:10 Data 7.36 MB 1.11
24/09/2012 06:48 Data 1.26 MB 0.19
which is 15c/mb.

It looks like my account shows a price of 15c/mb when I was using up my bundle, and when my bundle was depleted it charged from my airtime at 99cm/mb.
