Strange you said HDD and CD-ROM were receiving no power?

If the mobo is fried you should still be able to eject your CD-ROM and the little light should still flash when you turn it on? And HDD should still start spinning regardless unless things have changed lately?

Hate to say this but what if you are one of those okes with super bad luck and it's both your MB and PSU? :o:eek::(

Na it can't be, I put the PSU in my mom's PC and its running everything well, one DVD-ROM and 2 HDDs

and on my PC the light did come on.

But that kind of luck aint unheard of :erm:

Ah ok :) at least youre a bit lucky

I had this issue not so long ago. Immediately I suspected CPU but a little digging later it turned out to be the mobo. Most likely one of the capacitors were faulty and not regulating the current to the CPU or some such and therefore everything was just dead! No processing power = no Windows, no BIOS, no Beeps, no nothing :)

Fortunately I had another socket 939 motherboard lying around and after replacing the mobo and repair installing XP everything was back to normal.
