[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

So we have a new Hisense 40" LED TV but I don't see any option to set the backlight level. Is there any way to set this?

on my 43" SMART, you go to picture settings and if you set personal, one of the last options near the bottom is backlight level. Not sure if same for non SMART , also mine falls under the Direct LED type vs the other. I don't think my previous one had the option.
 
Nope, no personal seeing m setting, just the User profile one. I noticed the brightness level does affect the backlight quite a bit. It's quite normal with indoor scenes but outdoor scenes is where it does go quite brighter. Maybe the TV still needs to run in for the LED's to dim.
 
HiSense 43N3000UW

Pros:
Overall I'm happy with this display.
I enjoyed the 4K HDR using my Apple TV 4K while streaming Amazon prime. (only once since I'm not uncapped)

Cons:
- Sometimes the display freezes if switching between HDR presets (does not happen on normal preset)
- Youtube app is a bit sluggish.
- Sound is ok but not great (luckily I have a soundbar)
 
55N3000 vs 55k3300

Anyone with knowledge knows which one of these two are better? The only major difference I can see is that the N3000 runs VIDAA Smart and the K3300 Android 4.2.

N3000 should be newer and android on a TV actually sucks
 
I think I am going to go for the 43N2170PW.

My 8+ year old 32” LG is starting to get a yellow hue and is showing its age.

Pity there don’t seem to be any great deals on 4K (like the esquire one that cost a couple extra hundred bucks), at least not at an ebucks partner (I don’t actually want to “pay” for a new TV :) )
 
Hisense's has some new TV's available, they are still 2017 models

A6500 and M7030

A6500 sits slightly below M5010

The M7030 ULED is a slight upgrade from 2016 M7000.
 
Own the Hisense 43N3000. Just waiting on the holidays so I can take it back (want to get store credit or something, upgrade to a Samsung).

My review:

Crap remote. Like really - lightweight and feels "cheap". Also MASSIVE, why must it be that big?
Sound is terrible. I had to move my soundbar to the bedroom so I could hear what people are saying (I'm not joking).
TV is incredibly slow. So slow, in fact, that it often crashes and "freezes" for no reason. Also "freezes" after every few YouTube videos.
No Showmax (and apparently other apps as well - they call it a "rights issue").
Every now and again it'll bug out the Netflix app, meaning I have to force reset the app and fill in my login details from the start. No idea why this happens.
Twice now it's refused to pick up WiFi for almost half an hour. No internet means no TV to me - making the TV then literally useless.
No Bluetooth - on a 2018 Smart TV - really? This also means cables to every external sound system you want to connect to it.

Screen's pretty damn good tho, considering it's UHD.
 
I avoid any smart TV like the plague. The smart I want it to have I'll stick in the HDMI port. Right now using a Telkom LIT player and it's pretty good.
 
Honestly my Samsung Smart TV is pretty good, even for a 4-year old model (IIRC). Really nothing to laugh at, considering how smooth and easy it is to operate.
 
Hisense is actually making a good name for themselves recently. I hope they can keep it up. Recently bought UHD and I am impressed with it, plugged in my xiaomi box.
I love the HDMI arc thing on the tv, connects very well with my hisense sound bar
 
Yeah, good value for money vs the competition. 4 year warranty doesn't hurt either. UI not the most responsive though, apparently.
 
I need some help. Looking at upgrading my tv and Dion Wired has this on special:

I'm currently on a 51" Samsung Plasma bought in 2012, so my take on it is anything would feel like a huge upgrade at this stage. I know this TV is on the bottom end specs wise, and I have a Mi Box so the "smart" aspect of the TV doesn't bother me. Is there anyone that would strongly discourage me from getting this TV?
 
For that price, I'd snap it up. Might not be the complete and utter greatest of picture quality, but Hisense even their low ends aren't bad.
