[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I need some help. Looking at upgrading my tv and Dion Wired has this on special:

https://www.dionwired.co.za/dionwired/en/All-Dionwired-Categories/TV-&-Audio/Television-&-Accessories/TV's/65"-UHD-SMART-TV-65A6130/p/00790212

I'm currently on a 51" Samsung Plasma bought in 2012, so my take on it is anything would feel like a huge upgrade at this stage. I know this TV is on the bottom end specs wise, and I have a Mi Box so the "smart" aspect of the TV doesn't bother me. Is there anyone that would strongly discourage me from getting this TV?

I have exactly that tv, really great device so far (bought in January) from takealot for R10700

Shout if you have specific questions

Thanks man, that's good to hear. I saw it on Takealot as well, really good price imo.

Nothing specific really comes to mind, I guess just overall you're not noticing anything picture quality wise, fast movement wise or anything else that you can mention which would detract from getting this over say, a higher quality 55 inch UHD for the same price?

I have not noticed anything weird.

Plug it into the wall and the network, instantly can cast from youtube on our phones, use plex player, netflix, showmax and such.

Plugged a hard drive with a 50GB movie into the tv and played it without a glitch.

So yea, been fine :)

Great, for what its worth, does it have the DSTV now app?

Yes, comes with Plex, Netflix, Showmax, DSTV now and a bunch of other apps (free and paid for channels and such).

I just dislike the boot-up screen (Official tv of Russian world cup 2018 stuff).
Have you checked for software updates? I thought theyd removed the logo

Frequently :/

I see it as a new vodacom phone before you upload different firmware.
"At least I don't have to look at it all the time"

Do you check OTA updates or on their website?

and can someone please confirm what on earth the difference is between ULED and ELED?

It's the difference between the 55" and 65"

ULED is Hisense's way of saying "This TV have a certain set of premium features".

ULED:
UltraColor - TVs have a wide color palette (1 Billion Colors) compared to the usual 16 Million colors.
UltraResolution - UHD resolution 3,840 x 2,160 with upscaling
UltraMotion - TVs all use a system called UltraSmooth Motion, which is basically a clever algorithm for the TV to create and insert frames into a video, making for smoother transitions.

ELED and DLED is types of backlighting systems.

ELED - (Edge Lit Light emitting diodes) These LEDs are set along the edges of the TV and by means of a waveguide, are then reflected to the rest of the display. These TVs tend to be thinner.
DLED - Direct Lit Light emitting diodes are spread out at the back of the TV. The TV tend to be a bit thicker, but lighting will usually be more uniform across the screen and usually have a more accurate color.

I have a Hisense A6100 50" ultra HD

Is there an option to turn off the Ultramotion? I can't find it anywhere

@Hisense SA
Any reason why we don't get OTA updates?
Having to load firmware on USBs is a bit sketchy? I would much rather my TV auto update via official paths like OTA.

Hey there's a Hisense rep! @Hisense SA I have a Hisense 43N3000UW. However, this thing's software is DREADFUL. It comes pre-loaded with Netflix and I know there are issues with licensing or something so it can't take Showmax, but that's not my issue. My issue is that I have to deactivate and re-do the Netflix app at least once a week, because it works fine and then suddenly it just refuses to connect and gives the "we can't display this title right now" error on everything. Any advice? It's about a year old now, maybe a bit less.

Please make contact with service 0860 447 3673. Reason for that, they might have a more updated firmware. Be sure to provide them with your current firmware version. If the unit is still under warranty we may be able to come out to you to assess and install it or alternatively you can take your TV to Milnerton Hisense service centre(021 555 4260 It is a walk in centre, but I always advise to phone first) and we can provide you with the firmware, replace the components or update your TV, it all depends what is wrong with it.

OK cool I'll take a look at the firmware versions and so on. I don't believe it's had an update since I bought it. Thanks @Hisense SA, appreciate this feedback!

PS: I'll have to update it via USB, correct?
