[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Likewise.

I was also keen on purchasing a Hisense model, but with all these niggles of issues users are reporting with firmware's etc, I'll also rather opt for a LG or Samsung model

I am really happy with my TV. Just the Netflix issue that is annoying. By hardcoding the Netflix app as part of the firmware was not a wise decision. Would have been better if the OS and features specific to the TV was part of the firmware and all the other apps Netflix, Showmax etc. should be seperate updateable via the web in the appstore.

With my Samsung bluray player I just uninstall Netflix and install the newest version from the app store much easier!

It's all the "other" company apps on the Hisense TV that is throwing the TV's reputation away. The TV itself is great.

I have a 65 inch 4K model and it's great. However the good news bad news is that it is my 2nd TV, the first had a patch on the screen but in their defence they replaced the TV with a new one after 3 months. Great service.

O and the different versions of firmware for the same TV model, in the same country fustrating. Why not roll out new firmware that will work on all the same model TV's in one country? TV is wiped, new firmware is loaded ... done... Not like if you have this version of firmware load this , if you have that version of firmware load that... Makes it too complicated. And another thing... If they can't why not make one web page with all the different versions of firmware. Like: If you have v1 download this... if you have v2 download this... if you have.... Will reduce the queries to Hisense unless it maybe is part of job creation. I don't know...

I am on my fourth Hisense. 50", 55" FHD, 55"UHD, 65" UHD 7000 series.
Personally think it is best TV in the world.

I've had one for just under a year, and I'm generally happy.

I bought the 50A6100UW (50 inch 4K, Smart TV), I think it's one of the more popular ones based on the price and specs.

To put my experience into perspective, I had a Samsung 1080p Smart TV before purchasing my current Hisense TV.

The picture quality is great, but the user interface can be a laggy at times.

The sound isn't the greatest, which I have made them aware about.

Before I bought the TV, I had a Telkom LIT box, which I'm still using. I feel that this completely nullifies any issues you may have as the Netflix, Showmax and DSTV Now apps work great.

I also had a soundbar before I got the TV, which I am still using as the sound in much better using the soundbar.

With that being said, the sound on the Samsung TV wasn't much better and necessitated the use of the soundbar anyway.

Compared to a Samsung TV, I would have to admit that the Hisense is inferior, but one would have to take the cost into consideration. If you're on a strict budget, I would definitely recommend it, but if you have a few extra thousands to throw around and don't want to have to buy a LIT box etc, then a Samsung TV might be a better option.

For people that dont like the software: Buy a Mi Box S . TV should be all about the visuals.

In which case, you can then buy the equivalent Samsung smart TV which by all accounts has a good OS that isn't buggy and you don't need anything like a Mi Box S/LIT Box. The point of me buying a smart TV is to use in the bedroom, run from the apps off of the TV and not need to have extra cables for DSTV etc etc.

I would agree with you to an extent.

I have a Mi Box 3 (which I love to bits) which I currently use with my LG 42" TV in the living. The idea is to move the 42" to the bedroom and then buy a new 55"-58" for the living room. As I'm addicted to Twitch, I want to buy another MiBox for the new TV as none of the current Smart TVs out there have an app for Twitch integrated with the TV. Samsung had one, but for some weird reason they dropped support for the app.

So I can opt to buy a Hisense model and add a MiBox S for the living room and save perhaps R1000-R2000. Or go all out and buy a decent Samsung / LG 55" and add another MiBox (just for Twitch I might add, lol) and not save anything.

To be honest, my biggest desire for buying a new TV is to have a TV for a change that doesn't have picture lag, especially during sports such as soccer, cricket and rugby. Something that will give me smooth framerates. My current LG 42" which I bought in 2013 doesn't hold up any more and it's really starting to irritate me, lol.

Since I only need the basic apps, DSTV Now, Showmax and Netflix the basic smart TV OS will do just fine, so I don't need anything extra besides a decent working OS. I'll need a better TV for the lounge at some point, but I haven't got the means to justify a nice big TV their yet, so the bedroom can get a "basic smart TV" for now. In this regard a Hisense would be perfect, but now the rep has disappeared so I'll have to stick it out a bit longer.

Hi @Hisense SA

I have the Hisense A6100|55A6100UW – got this from my label on the back of the TV

My current software version is V0000.01.00a.I0417
Extended Version I0417

I’ve downloaded the firmware update from your site and got the usb_HEA6100UWTS 2.bin file. Put it on a FAT32 USB drive. But the TV does not update. When I
go to update firmware from USB it detects that there is a update available and when I click reboot the TV just starts normally –> Soccer World Cup Logo -> TV interface.

I’ve searched on the inet an found https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/personal-experiences-hisense-tvs.930968/page-19

FYI for those with a 50A6100UW there seem to be 3 versions of updates:

1)If your firmware version starts with VA002, its the below firmware.
https://we.tl/t-Khc6CbchVz

2) If it starts with V0000, its the firmware on the Hisense website.
https://hisense.co.za/wp-content/uploads/patches/usb_HEA6100UWTS 2.bin

3) My tv's ver was V0000.01.00a.I0421, but the above did not work, so the software update that worked was in this link as received from Hisense SA on this forum.
https://we.tl/t-a65CHnWm1N

I think I am the the same situation. But the links 3 is dead. My problem is that the NETFLIX app is giving issues. Gives an error randomly then I have to reset everything for
it to work again.

Can you please send a link to update my firmware that can work.

Kind Regards

Ya, that was my post. Hisense did reply in this thread somewhere indicating that the link he sent to me (that worked for me), was only valid for a week or something? Suspect he will reply with an updated link shortly?

Hopefully they will reply with a link...

Tried...
1. usb_HEA6100UWTS 2.bin
2. usb_HEA6100TCONDUAL

Someone else from HISENSE mailed me and wanted me to fill in a Service Card for someone to come to my home. As I have stated my TV is working I just need the new firmware.

Speaking of updating: How does one do that? What's the point of the "Check for update" option in the settings then?

Check for update just shows. Up to date on my TV. The update via usb is the only one that seems to work, if I can just get the right version of the firmware.

I have my TV for 9 months now and I've been clicking that badboy every week for nothing then

Anybody know of a way to tell which models I have? Other than digging through cupboards for the Makro receipts? I tried the other day, but only found a bunch of long numbers and letters, but nothing that explicitly stated "Model"

Go to sound balance, type 1969, this should open up the Service menu, this might have options to tell you what model you've got.

Let me quickly ask the one who shall not be named if she can find it.

You might need to wait to get home, there are a lot of options in the menu. This is for both my old 50" and my 58"
