I use an Apple TV 4K box which is brilliant. But the Hisense firmware doesn’t allow seamless CEC integration so the experience on the Hisense with a smart box is far inferior than on a Samsung with the same setup. I don’t use the Samsung smart features but the underlying Samsung Tizen OS plays nicely with the Apple TV, while the Hisense VIDAA OS doesn’t. If you combine that with the dirty screen effect that you inevitably get on the Q8600, the whole package for me is an overall 3/5 at best. I’ve tried 2 Q8600’s and returned them both because once you see the DSE you can’t unsee it and Hisense doesn’t seem to care enough to sort out the CEC

Yup , a realisation I came to over a decade ago with my trusty old Samsung TV. Told my wife they were becoming computers and would need to be replaced due to that. I have both a Apple TV and fire stick.

What's interesting is that hdmi control works perfectly with my ancient TV and those devices , whereas guys are still struggling with Hisense current gen TVs.

So now debating between a LG Nano 85 series TV or Samsung QLED QT60/70 TV, at 75 inches. Price around 30k. Any better choices? Was disappointed to read that the Nano TVs are not so great according rtings YouTube channel.
 
Ive been holding out and this Black Friday (Month of November) I am getting a new TV. I do believe it will either be the Hisense U8QF or the Samsung Q60/Q70. My concerns with the U8QF is motion handling and I read some reviews that the US model is now much worse after a firmware update with regards to local dimming. Anyone that has the U8QF and can comment on firmware updates and above concerns?
 
I too am looking for a new TV this Black Friday, so any assistance would be appreciated! The Hisense H9G has fantastic ratings but I'm struggling to find it anywhere. Has it been rebranded and given a new model number? The other two I'm looking at are also the Hisense U8QF and the Samsung Q60/Q70, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! PS I am looking for a mid-range gaming TV

For gaming definitely the Q70T will do, with VRR and 2.1 HDMI.

Thanks, could you perhaps recommend any other affordable TVs with VRR and 2.1 HDMI? I see the HDR brightness isn't great on the Q70T and it's slightly overpriced compared to similar TVs. The Sony X950G / X950H got great reviews internationally but I can't find pricing in South Africa

I can't find anything cheaper than the Q70T for VRR and 2.1. Currently at R17k. Black Friday might be cheaper! The Sony no 55 inch only the 65 at R30k.

That actually looks like decent competition, thanks! I've added it to the list of TVs to look out for on Black Friday. At this point I'm actually considering getting a gaming monitor as I play alone mostly. The only problem is there doesn't seem to be any on the market with HDMI 2.1 yet. There are a few coming out next year. It's more affordable and I think the Xbox Series X would look fantastic on the right monitor.

What exactly is on your list? Is it just that Samsung Q70 and now the LG? I too am looking for a new TV for the PS5.

Yes, very short list haha. Samsung Q70 and LG Nano86. Neither of them are perfect, so unless they are massively discounted I might wait until next year.

Between the Nano85 and the Q70 it definitely looks like the Q70 is the better one. But it seems the H9G outperforms the Q70 though, just the comparison between H9G and U8QF is still confusing a bit.

My current TV (Samsung series 6) has huge vertical black lines. So unfortunately I cannot wait till next year to replace it. Leaning toward the Q70 right now.

How old is that series 6 samsung?
 
If possible I would suggest getting last years Q70R, be it new if anyone still has them or 2nd hand ( I know there are some on gumtree). The price should still be cheaper than this years Q70T but the performance will be much better. Also, OLED's might be around the R20k range for the 55BX or 55C9.
