Pig heads left in mosque

Just because they don't have a God, does not mean that they aren't a religion. God doesn't make a religion, pointless faith does.

I don't follow. You're saying belief in a god is not a religion? If belief in an unseen deiety is not (pointless or rather blind) faith then what is?

So do you propose a world without ideologies, political systems, culture and religions? I would tell that something like that is impossible since it is those things which distinguish us from animals and if you mean to replace all of that with blind individualism that in itself is a culture or an ideology too. In fact just because you have proposals to ban all ideologies and systems - you are following an ideology yourself.

You won't convince these people. They believe that religion is root of all evil despite the greatest crimes in society being committed by atheist societies.
Throughout the 20th century it was the leftists who killed the most people, people who are officially atheist but who talk of 'banning this and that'
and who put into practice what Marx taught them - that all enemies of the state must perish in a genocidal holocaust. You'll find that many anti-religious people who write books today are Marxists and would love nothing better than to impose a totalitarian system of existence on everyone, leftism is evil except God is removed and replaced by the state which is the new god or the party.

You better not read my local leftie rag 'The Witness'. With the U.S financial troubles they can't get enough Marx and Lenin quotes in. Hell they're even into pics now :o

Where in the "book of atheism", does it say that we are all communists/socialists/marx?

You are not, but Marx was the atheist with the biggest influence on modern thinking. Marx' believed that atheism was central to the new social system.
It had to be atheist because man had to answer to himself and not believe in a god or gods. Religion was the opium of the masses as he said. It subjugated countless generations into servitude and complacency while
the upper classes subjugated them. It gave legitimacy to the rule of the rich.
It also provided an objective moral framework. In order to have the masses rise it was necessary to eliminate religion and its own system of pesky morals.

Budda is their god. They worship Budda. That is where the name Buddism comes from.

No Buddha never claimed to be a god. In fact it is only people who have twisted that. It is also known that many people who are Buddhists actually practice religions as well.

Point is that Socialism operated and structured completely unrecognizably from religion, it operated through faith, which is also the exact engine behind religion.

Marx may have been an Atheist, but their is absolutely nothing about Atheism which says that we have to be Communists, in fact, most of the predominant Atheists, all support Capitalism.

Hitler was also a Socialist, does this now mean that all Christians are socialists?

Hitler wasn't exactly a practicing Christian and did not base his ideology
on Christ either.

True about Buddhism. There are numerous flavours of Buddhism though
and most real Buddhists practice Buddhism only, not like a few Western stars who float between Buddhism and Scientology.

If this happened in Europe, the US or the Middle East I would not have been surprised.
The fact that it happended in Potchefstroom does surprise me since we we have a lot of religous tolerance in SA.

That being said, I'm sure this is an isolated case where a few idiots went out to offend Muslims and they got that done. The worst thing would be overreaction but since this is SA we can be sure it'll happen.

Muslims are very quick to be offended. I know Muslims that will have a few drinks and smoke a joint, but not eat in a restaurant where pork/bacon is prepared? Very selective if you ask me...

No different from Marx or Lennon or any of the other senseless crackpots.

True, but Buddhism is not compulsory, its not imposed on anyone.
Secondly it doesn't advocate killing or forcing people to conform.

Sorry when I said True about Buddha I did not say he was a crackpot like
Lennon and Marx. I meant that he was revered. Buddhism is a positive influence on the world, like Christianity.

How do missionaries 'force' anyone to do anything?

Arguably missions protected people. They were fair game to slave hunters and functionaries recruiting forced labourers (as happened in Congo) outside
those missions. I think people will misinterpret that.

Buddism does seem to be a lesser evil, but still no different, only a different flavor of weed.

Well relatively speaking, everything is evil. Even stepping outside your house is bad for you. Your own post here could influence someone to go and kill Buddhists too.
