I was approached telephonically by Liezel from Platinum Life. Nice lady, but quite pushy. Before I knew it, I have signed up for something I didn't want. Nevertheless, that's on me. They wanted to load a Debicheck mandate onto my bank account, but it didn't want to load and as such I could not give approval. Later the day, 3 Debicheck mandates were loaded from them without bank approval from me and there is no option to cancel on my banking app. The next day I called Platinum Life to speak to her to cancel, but was not allowed to speak to her. The lady informed me that she will cancel my policy and that within the next 3 days, the debicheck mandates would be removed. It's been almost 3 weeks and all 3 debicheck mandates are still active on my banking app. I'm not impressed on how they can quickly load these mandates but not remove them. My bank informed me that only they can remove them, not even the bank can. So now, for a service I no longer want, I'm going to pay. This means my liberty has been taken away. And a bad reputation is given to Platinum Life.
Edit: Was just called by Platinum Life and was guaranteed that no deductions will be made. However, I need to go into the bank and remove the Debicheck Mandate myself "and they will cover the related bank costs, if any". Was promised an email from the caller within 5 - 10 mins after the call, stating that they would "cover bank costs" and a summary of our call.
