Excellent service recieved from Cool Ideas for work internet via the Openserve Fibre network. Reliable connection, consistent speed and excellent customer support.
Customer portal could definitely do with an upgrade.

We are doing a survey on how happy subscribers are with their ISP, and it will be great if you can rate Cool Ideas based on value-for-money, network quality, support, and general service satisfaction.

Also please tell us what Cool Ideas does well, and where they can improve, by positing in this thread.

Voted Fair - connection is good and when things go well, it's great. However, when you have an issue, the support is pathetic. You have much better luck contacting some of the reps in this forum than their own helpline which, by the way, doesn't operate after hours. Really, in 2019?

Customer support is CISP's biggest flaw-As in shocking level but hey what can you expect from basic staff. Otherwise its all good.

Rated Excellent! Definitely recommend!

I switched to Cool Ideas from Axxess. Axxess had a weird rolling fair usage limit that would see us throttled after every weekend binge. I switched to Cool Ideas because they were rated Netflix No 1 ISP and they were cheaper for the same speed. When I called Cool Ideas to find out how I track my usage, I was told there is no way to see my usage because I wouldn't be throttled.

Meh,

Cons:
No 24/7 support
International speeds have been weird lately with high latency and packet loss. Gaming has been a nightmare.
Tickets have either been closed or left unanswered
Blameshifting

Pros:
The reps on here are very helpful.

They were leading the pack not too long ago. Sigh.

I voted excellent.

Cons:
No 24/7 support.
Ticket response system not so great.

Not a deal breaker

Absolutely worst ISP I have ever been with.
Completely ignore tickets.
Perception and part experience tell me that it has gone from 15/10 to 3-6/10 depending on if you need support.

While it is good if the product works, it is dreadful to deal with support.

If you don't need support and it just works, its the best ISP to be with. Nowadays we are at the mercy and whim of "whose fault is it anyway, or who moved my throughput and latency"?

Pros: solid network, @PBCool support on the forum
Cons: support people behind the ticketing system needs an overhaul, training, anything!

Excellent rating.

Value for money: Top notch - way cheaper than having to deal with Telkom on their own OperServe network.
Network quality: I've had very few outages and no speed issues - so far always sorted out before I can even raise a ticket.
Support: Haven't needed any support, but I'm pretty confident that it would be better than having to deal with Telkom/Openserve directly.

No issues. Even though I up the speeds during school holidays and drop after. Billing very precise and speeds very consistent. Most issues I have had are with Vumatel the fibre provider.

Happy with the service. Much better than the other two ISP's I have used in the past.

2018 was blissful with Cool ideas. Unfortunately 2019 was the totally opposite. Service either down or extremely slow. It has gone from bad to worst that i cancelled my service and moving my service to another provider.

I have been with them now a little over 2 years. So happy with their service that I actually looked if they were in the area i was planning to move to.
Never had any problems with their ticketing system. And when I have had to call the problem was resolved while still on the phone. Very knowledgeable team.

If they can work on two issues (that I've experienced), they would be the best ISP SA has ever seen:

1) Their awful support. Tickets go unanswered, sometimes for weeks. Sometimes it just goes completely ignored. The forum support makes up for that a bit, though, but most customers have to rely on their ticket system.

Edit: Let me amend the first point. They tried to double bill me for July. Probably some confusion over moving to a new place. So I sent a ticket and it was answered and resolved within 2 hours. So this is both bad and good. But it shows their support can have really amazing response time, so I don't know how to rate their level of support, because I've also had tickets that went unanswered for weeks only for PBCool to assist me on the forums instead so I end up just closing the ticket on the portal.

2) For some reason you have to use a proxy to watch Twitch properly (which is hidden away in the 400 page forum thread somewhere). While this isn't a massive problem for me personally, most customers probably don't know to search myBB forum threads for a proxy or how to use it. I don't understand why, if they know how to deliver a smooth Twitch experience, a proxy is required instead of just working out of the box. I'm sure they have their reasons though. I'm aware most of their customers probably don't watch or know what Twitch is and wouldn't consider this a problem, but I can only speak of my experience.

Their international goes down now and then, however, either completely or just at much slower throughput. I don't know enough of what's going on behind the scenes to know if that is Cool Ideas' fault, so personally I'm just gonna call it unfortunate circumstances and not hold it against them until I'm more informed.

But when their internet works, it's absolutely rock solid, which is 99.8% of the time. I've only seen international struggle once or twice since I've been with them the last few years, so for me it's a non-issue. I can't speak for other people's experience, though.

All-in-all, I have and would recommend Cool Ideas to family and friends and I don't regret it. I've gotten them like 10 new customers.
