value-for-money - meh,
network quality - excelelnt
support - havent had to use it, but their website and customer portal suck
general service satisfaction - havent had any issues so happy with my connection but not anything else

I've reduced my previous rating from "Good" to "Fair". This is because network issues have increased over the last month(s), these mostly happen after hours and they don't have 24/7 support.

Also, when submitting tickets, it takes days to get an answer. Then - of course - there is "no issue" anymore ...

Almost a week now that I've signed up with Cool Ideas, so far so good with the speed and pricing was favorable just hope their standards don't drop. One good thing is that there's no contract involved :)

Cool ideas:
Hassle free sign up. Fibre install within 1 week of order placed. Received router within 2 days and up and running in one hour. Awesome experience.

Bruuuuuh cool ideas is the coolest. For a 20mbps line it actually seems a lot faster. Like a 50mbps line(yes I've had this speed before) I've hardly ever experienced down network. So I've never logged a fault since 1 Feb 2019 when I moved into the house. Totally RAD ISP! They've got a customer for life now and my family members are customers too if cool ideas is available in their area. I'm like the cool ideas ambassador. I think I deserve a prize guys! Hehehe

Best ISP I have ever been with - never needed to log a problem.

I rated Cool Ideas as Good.

I'm running 25mbps over MetroFibre here in Midrand. Most of the time speedtest.net clocks in at 26mbps both up and down with sub-5ms ping.

What I rate excellent is their true uncapped service with month-to-month billing, no contracts. I rate their network as only fair because it completely drops Internet service at times, some days several times. It takes a while to realise it was them and not our apps or devices and then another 1 to 2 minutes to get up and running again.

Overall rating therefore averages in at Good.

I'm satisfied with the hope of feeling stoked about them. I would recommend Cool Ideas but would like to rave about them.

Cheers.

I've been with Cool Ideas on SADV for over a year and a half on a cheap 10MB/s package for general Internet usage and gaming. From my experience speeds appear to be consistent. I can't comment on their support/ticketing system since I've never needed to use it.

I rated fair. Issues, no after hours support when internet was down. Payments. I now pay upfront using my reference number. I got an email a month later saying its overdue please pay. So I am not sure how this 3rd party payment system is working for them.

I tried to join cool ideas, i am with Cell C. I called around 4pm on a weekday. I couldn't get through, I was number 146 in line at call center. I hang up after 5 mins when I moved to number 141. With Cell C the call center answers within 1 min. Network quality is very inconsistent but if I can't get support when something is wrong. Then it's not worth it.

I recently got Fibre and must say that moving from cybersmart to cool ideas was better than I expected. But I will say that my very first experience was a bit Rocky. But since then I have no comments.

I will however say that improvement on management of tickets is a big problem they need to work on.

Pros:
  • Network quality and pricing are excellent.

Cons:
  • Lack of 24/7 support has been an issue for me.
  • Ticketing system also doesn't work too well, but nothing a phone call hasn't sorted out.

In 3 years, their FTTH has been stable, I only wish pricing would improve
