Guys, I want to get a group together.
it does not matter what team you are.

all that matter is people looking to level grind.

at the pretoria Botanical Gardens there are 11 pokestops that are in a 3 min loop if you walk fast.
so I am looking for 9 other people that are willing to spend 4 lures, and 4 lucky eggs.

the plan is all 11 of us start at our own pokestop.
we coirdinate with a chat group of some sort.

make room for at least 125 pokeon in your storage before we start.
drop a lucky egg and a lure.
catch everything and walk in a circle hitting the stops and not stopping for at least 30 min.
the loop gives you about 600m on eggs when you walk it.

the plan is, no transfer or evolution while the lures are running.
take a small break between lures to transfer out junk, then go again.
do this loop 4 times.

that is 11 pokemon every 5 min from lure's, running an incense, its another 3 pokemon.
plus the natural spawns (currently the bot gardens are a Kabuto nest I caught 25 on saturday)

there is an entry fee at the gate, but its small.

rough estimate is 22800 XP per half hour (no cureball thows no nice thows or better)
add in to that evolutions after this half hour....

I figure 2 hours like this can give between 91200 and 22800 (all exelent cureball thows) XP.
this excludes lucky egg evolution.

but take note, you a re catching between 114 and 130 pokemon per half an hour. so you might end up doing 2 decent lucky egg evolutions.

the loop can be increased to 13 pokestops, but adding the two extra ones makes the loop take slightly more than 5 minutes, so you do not take full advantage of all the lures in the half an hour.

I am trying to see what the interest looks like.
it would either be a saturday or a public holiday, to increase the number of people that can come.

I dont want to create a facebook event for this because I dont have facecbook, and there may be people who misunderstand the mission here.

this is not meant to be a social event we can chat and get to know each other and picnic after.
the point would be, get together, make sure we all have the space needed, the lures needed, get into position, do a countdown, drop lure then drop egg (few seconds for lure to spawn first pokemon gives time for the egg)

if we make this a social event though facebook, there will be people parking between the 3 lures and not walking, while I dont mind that, I want 11 dedicated people who are there to power level.
my plan is to create a new account and power level a brand new acount on the day, see how high I can get it in 4 hours. and hopefully get my wife to be level 30.

the math on the XP means a new account can get to level 21 or level 22 in 4 hours in this set up.(depending on new pokemon caught)

ok my math is bad. I forgot egg XP and pokestop XP.

so help me out here people.

11 lured pokestops that spawn a pokemon every 3 min each.
incense spawning a pokemon every 5 min.
Natural spawns bwteen 7 and 12 based on my trip there this weekend.
egg hatching. 600m per loop.

assuming you are running a lucky egg.

10 lured stops giving 100 each hitting each pokestop 5 times to be conservative. plus the 10th pokestop bonus of 200XP (there are 11 stops in the loop)

10 pokemon spawn from lures (say you catch 8 at every stop, hitting them 5 times) 8*11 = 88 lured pokemon
6 pokemon are incense spawns
lets say you only see 7 non lured, non insense pokemon per lure.
that is a low number of 101 pokemon and a high number of 125 pokemon.

add to that, there will be some evolutions, maybe 1 ekans and 1 mowth, maybe a geodude into graveler. unfortunately pidgey, ratata, weedle and catepie do not spawn often there...

because Eggs give XP and are unknown on if it is a new pokemon or adding to evolutions I am disregarding eggs.

XP from pokestops, per half hour loop:
total pokestops hit:
55.
Total number of 10 pokestop bonus
5
so:
(50*100)+(5*200)
=6000XP

pokemon caught:
low number 101:
no bonus = 20200XP
Curveball = 22220XP
Curveball + Nice = 24240XP
Curveball + Great =30300XP
Curveball + excelent = 50500XP

I can get curvball great thows pretty much all the time, but lets average it out to just the Curveball (accounts for nice thow if you cant curve)
22220XP

lastly evolutions:
low number is only 3 per two hour stint.
3000XP.

so in 2 hours using 4 lures, 5 lucky eggs (the evolution spree at the end as well)
each person will get:
6000XP * 4 (pokestops) = 24000XP
22220XP * 4(pokemon caught) = 88880XP
+3000XP (only evolving 3 pokemon after, a very very low number)
that is a total of

115 880 XP

On Saturday I joined a gym, but it was the most painful experience.
Stand in front of gym - cannot get in (GPS not found)
Move around...get in
Start battling...almost kill Lapras...freeze
over and over...
took me >30 minutes to power up the gym (level 3!!!) so that I could join

your timing was a little off.
there was a server side update happening on sat that changed prestieging friendly gyms back to the old way.
so if you fight with half the CP you now get 1000 prestiege instead of 500, and as long as your highest CP attacker is at least lower then the lowest defender in the gym, you will earn between 500 and 1000 prestiege per pokemon you beat.

on sat morning I trainined up a gym for the wife. took 40 mins to take it from level 9 to level 10.
sat evening I trained up a different level 9 to level 10 for her, and it only took 10 minutes.
but the second one the lowest CP pokemon was a 2020 Arcanine so my crew of 1000CP prestiegers flew though all 9 pokemon for 9000 prestiege in one go.

everything was weak to water other in the gym, so my vapes and golducks did a lot of heavy lifting....

I'm at level 25 and not seeing a point to go any higher as there is not much more you get for being a higher level. Still need about 20 Pokemon for my pokedex and most of those will get from eggs.

I'd probably try do what you are doing but what is more interesting to me is hunting out the specific Pokemon I need. I'm bored of farming pidgies and weedles for XP and 100k XP means I go up one level. With no benefit.

At level 20 now and stopped farming the common pokemons. I now stock up on pokeballs and look for the more uncommon pokemons. Also only target what I want to evolv

its possible legendary pokemon, some special event, or even gen two.

guess we will know on the 8th (8th for us)

if there is an app update rolling out tomorrow we should start getting really really exited about he possibility of gen 2.
