So I was thinking of starting a "fun" and interesting thread on how long it takes your pc/lappy to bootup. Now I'm talking about from the second you press the power button to fully loaded and ready to rock. Your pc/lappy can NOT be in sleep/hibernation, it must be a "Cold Start".

Here's mine:

Boot Time: 51sec
Ram Usage: 904 MB (excluding Task Manager, 3748K)
Running Processes: 50 (excluding Task Manager)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Screenshots: (Optional)

CPU/Memory

Want to improve your boot time?

Get yourself Soluto from here: http://www.soluto.com/

ps -eaf reveals about 34 processes.
cat /proc/meminfo is on about 200Mb.

personally, as long as i have a browser and a shell, im happy. :D

edit: and for the rest there is a console i wont mention in fear of getting flamed by console junkies.

When I get my Vertex 3, I will post something meaningful :P

lol, having a SSD helps so much :D make sure you set it up correctly hey, there's like a guide you must follow, things you must disable ect..

2:11. Mine is the most, thus I win

Win XP SP3
299mb Ram usage
36 processes

lol shame, I recommend you give Soluto a try. :)

I've managed to get my boot time down to 30 sec using Soluto. The software is really useful saves me it about 15 sec. http://www.soluto.com/

Thanks for this, Nice program, helped me shave 14 seconds off my boot :) I recommend everyone should use this program.

I think everyone should download and run this app http://www.winvistaclub.com/t212.html

Then take a screenshot with notepad open displaying your alias. Will post my result later, can't reboot now :p

Nice little app, thanks, it said my windows boot time is 22.2 seconds., forgot to take a screenshot though and it takes forever for me pc to reboot, so not too keen hey :(

Awesome app. I'm definitely going to give it a try on my C2D laptop that doesn't have an SSD.
Most likely it will just inform me that I shouldn't start all the web services like Apache, MySQL, AntiVirus, etc, etc. ;)

Windows 7 takes quite long to boot, compared to how fast OSX 10.6.7 & Ubuntu boots.
Ubuntu's boot time >>> Win7's boot time.

For some weird reason, my operating systems boot way faster in a VM than they boot natively (all on my i7 860)! I have this with OSX 10.6.7 & WinXP.

My pc restarts in about 40 seconds. (win7)

boot time, is 12 seconds :p
It used to take 8 seconds till ms word was fully opened, before I installed all the SQL server and other pc.slowing.down.stuff

mmm... if you want to inlcude bios post, it jumps to 32 seconds. (yesss, my bios post needs to be oc'd, so much for fast asus efi)

52 processes running after startup (excluding taskmgr), and about 1.2GB RAM usage.

Hmm in my case I think win7 is faster (no ssd's concerned)
