Ekt nou uiteindelik n 29db antenna gekry.:D

as jy die routerboard en antenna het kan jy mos self scan ? - stel net radio se country op South Africa, klim op die dak, en scan.

PTAWUG usercount now stands at 322, thats 100 new users in the last three months, more than one user a day that joined. We count a user as a house that has a wireless link to PTAWUG, thus there can be more people that use the network, but 322 wireless links to the network from houses/buildings.
One amazing thing is that the network infrastructure grows and expands almost automatically as the users get more - normal clients put up equipment to broadcast signal as well, or they connect to a second highsite and provide redundancy on the network.

Thanks to mybroadband for allowing us to use this forum to promote the free networks in South Africa and also supporting us by writing articles and donating towars highsites.

Hatfield highsite is now online, stew and manifesto got the backbone link up from Waterkloof Glen highsite, yesterday afternoon. The highsite covers the central Pretoria area on 5.8ghz. Thanks to Abraham and FoeFFie who worked hard to get the site up as well as everyone who donated towards the hardware.

Hi there

I want to get connected to the PTAWUG, so, i've read up on what i need to do, so i'm sure you guys will be hearing alot from me in the next couple of weeks ... (hopefully)

I live in a complex in centurion, if other units are also interested, can we both share this wireless connection?

Yes, if they can connect to you via Ethernet or by adding a extra radio with a omni antenna to your routerboard, but this will increase the price of the gear you need to buy.

Regards,

Bizkit, have you plotted your location on www.wug.za.net and checked line of sight to highsites ? As well as taken pictures from your roof and uploaded on www.wug.za.net/gallery ?

I'm on the first floor, and there is one apartment above me, so i first need to get permision from the board bla bla bla....

will do the plotting tonight, see if i can pick it up, and will post pics tonight, thnx for the help so far :)

standard wug kit (RB433, R52 radio, 27dbi grid, enclosure, poe, psu, etc.) at R2150 incl VAT at miro.co.za at the moment, the R/$ rate is helping us.

can just mail [email protected] or [email protected] to order on the PTAWUG or Jawug dealer accounts

348 users on PTAWUG currently, almost at the 350 mark :) aiming for 550 to 650 by the end of the year

cool, will definately try and join, if bc say its ok :(

but the can take a while,

should i want more people to join in the complex i stay, what would the extra cost be? for them to be able to connect to the link as well.

Maybe if i can tell the bc that the connection won't just be for me, and be open to who ever else wants to join (its a huge complex) they will say yes quicker? haha

but how many people can connect extra and what would the cost be?

Off topic - is it at all possible to stick to English in this thread? My brain can't switch between English and Afrikaans mid-sentence or for every 5th word. It hurts... :)

I would also like to know the additional cost of setting up a 2.4Ghz omni for sharing with the complex...

Eventually rec eived the logon info from wug.za.net. I have LOS to several sites. I am right in guessing that the closest lest used will give better bandwidth as well as better bandwidth to whoever connects to me?
