A friend of mine (late 60's ) has just phoned me. He has partitioned drives with both windows 2000 and windows XP. He has slowly been copying/ backing up stuff on his windows 2000 before he uses XP totally.
Up till now he has been using "dual boot" to access either XP or 2000 at will and has been happy with this.
However, yesterday he tripped his lights and since then has not been able to acess the dual boot system at all. When he starts his PC it goes straight into windows XP.
How does he restore the dual boot option so he can go into windows 2000?

well there is a little file called boot.ini in c:\ which contains the available boot options ... maybe the file got corrupted somehow or something like that

it is quite odd, I would expect to still show the menu, but when he/she selects the win 2000 option to fail or something like that, it is very strange that it just suddenly started to boot straight into xp

Try this

Hi Padded Mouse you can try this might help.

Open up control panel in xp. go to system
Go to advanced.
In the start up and recovery block click on settings.
Under system startup there is a check box regarding for displaying of other operating systems make sure its checked .

hope that helps maybe he fiddled a bit.
