Looks like the norm in SA - NO SERVICE DELIVERY.
I have been complaining to the local Vodacare, Vodacom network office, Vodacom4me contact, 082111, 111 and nobody cares to reply to my query.

Has anyone perhaps got a direct e-mail address for their MD or at least a senior management member who actually cares about customer service.
I am unable to receive certain SMS's only and mobile365 blames this on a filter set by Vodacom.
If filtering SMS's was at all possible it would be a holy day all over, as that would mean the end of SPAM! :D

Of course SMS filtering is possible.

But, please give us more details about how you are being affected, otherwise, your post here is a meaningless rant.

Hi

What tech support you dealing with ?

Yep, Vodacom SMS system is down still. That's almost a week now.

They send 'em when we don't want them and then don't when we do. (crazy)

We (are supposed to) receive SMS messages from a call centre using Sybase / Mobile365 as WASP provider.
Everything has been going well for the past 3 years, then suddenly from 1st August messages to Vodacom contact numbers stopped coming through.
No mobile devices have been changed, no settings have changed - SMS pages just stopped!
As per David Dos Santos of Mobile 365,
Vodacom decided to "block" international SMS's with certain codes in it
We are an international IT service provider relying on SMS messaging to keep contact with all our engineers worldwide.
It was even suggested I change my service provider to MTN, Cell-C or Virgin, as the guys with these providers have no problem whatsoever.
I did get a meaningless e-mail response from Ashlee at [email protected] stating
Sybase 365 is a WASP. Wireless Application Service Providers (WASP's) are third parties developing and offering services (such as ring tones, games, wallpapers, etc) using the Vodacom network.
something I already know.
It certainly looks like the fault lies with Vodacom, as claimed by David D.

Contact details of a senior technician with Vodaskommel would still be highly appreciated so that I can forward the complete e-mail communication thread between myself, Sybase/Mobile365 and our international call centre for investigation...

I really cannot understand why Vodacom is always shifting the blame...
Got an email from customer care again and suddenly all is fine!
We've managed to activate the SMS Notifications for WASP Transactions as per your request.

We urge that you switch the cellphone off and on at least once during the course of today (even if this is just for a split second) in order to force the handset to update on the network.
My question now:
Why was it de-activated in the first place? Training for newbie techs?

Hi NoRulez: Since the 7th July, Vodacom no longer routed MTs where the sender from was altered. This is not a filter on your MSISDN but on the routing path of the MT.

I personally have dealt with the Vodacom CallCenter agents who handle the top most queries and Vodacom does not have a number filter in place that is being used. I know, I had to develop such an application that allowed these agents to temporally block numbers against our clients during queries. BTW my app was the only one to be deployed at Vodacom until it got canned.

Also up till a few months ago Sybase/Mobile365 used a local aggregation WASP to handle their Vodacom leg. I'm not sure who they use now but from what your say, it seems they are using a international gateway.

Hi Sackboy, are these MTs been delivered via modem/handset or 3rd party (WASP)? Reason for asking is that we personally have not had any delays in submitting or receiving MTs/MOs from Vodacom on our binds for months.

Its only rated (OBS) requests that do suffer from delays with the networks.

I personally test all 3 networks during the day and the only one that gives me grief is CellC

Thanx for the explanation. Vodacom re-activated the service for all our engineers using them as providers and yes, they are using an international gateway, as our main call centre is based in UK.

Also replied to your PM.

sms problems etc

Hi I just wanted to know would the current issues being discussed above be the reason for my problem?

Basically im in Ireland and Im trying to send SMS's to a vodacom cell phone in Jo'berg. the info Im getting my side is 'message pending' but no delivery report.
I also tried ringing the cell but got no response. The receiver has said he is not receiving my messages today (one sms managed to come through to me this morning) but nothing since.
Im sure my cell company are charging me for these messages that have not been delivered,

can anyone shed any light on my problem?
are the networks down over in Joberg, is it due to this upgrading?
its very frustrating

What provider are you using to send the message?

Hi. If your sending from a handset then your issues are not related. When my Dad was in Ireland he used 3 to send msgs to me (I'm on Vodacom) and never an issue.

On delivery receipts they are only indicative and are not guaranteed. Depending on the load on the networks you might no get one at all. Also the handset has a major effect here.

** I'm sharing my experience of testing all 3 networks at least 3 time a day for the last 3 years on multiple handsets/models/brands.

Framed
thanks for the help but Im not sure if Id like to pass on other persons number without them knowing. issues of confidentiality etc, unless you can reassure me
its an 082 or 0823 prefix, doubt this will help though

not much i can do to help then

Non delivery of SmS

None of my sms messages are delivered suddenly!
I am not very optimistic about having this issue resolved as there is a very negative perception generally about Vodacom's willingness
to deal with this matter.

So if you are not optimistic about getting help, why bother posting?
