Problems with vmplayer in Linux

I normally use Virtualbox so I am having a couple of problems with VMware. Specifically, I downloaded the virtual machine player off their website and downloaded the ZenOS vmware image from the ZenOS website. Problem is... I cant change any of the player settings. I specifically want to change the network type to a bridged internet connection, but all the options are greyed out. Is this normal. Am I doing something wrong?

I suspect it's related to the VM state only being "Suspended",these apps usually refuse to edit settings unless the VMs are fully shut down. Power it off fully
