Proxmox update/upgrade query

So we running a really old Proxmox V3.1-21 with multiple VM's

Always a mission even with IE to view the console, it's also slow and often just doesn't work well
The later versions work wonders.

What would it take to upgrade or update everything?
Guessing it's a moerse schlep

Is it just running a later kernel version?

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade


This will require a node reboot though

Backup the VM's and reinstall, just went through the process. Better this way, with a fressh ProxMox install.

I am actually also in the same boat.
I am running the latest proxmox, but i got myself a new SSD and i would also like to use ZFS.
