Ag jisses here we go again.... The most overused bloody line used by console fanboys on online forums when they are fighting/debating/bitching ....either they have a XB lying in a cupboard or a PS packed away under a bed. We are not impressed mkay? STFU.
Instead of bragging about your R7000 console gathering dust in a cupboard...send me the farking thing rather ok?
I will PM you my delivery address. Thanks, cheers.

Funny how you only have this to say to PS owners with an Xbox dust-collector, but not when it goes the other way around...

And you reckon you are not a console fanboy? :)

MS has mandating that all devs must make SX upgrades to existing XB1 titles free. No word from Sony if they are doing the same but looks like they'll leave it up to the devs to make they decision on a title by title basis.

Looking at the amount of number of PS3 remasters were sold in the early lifecycle of the PS4, MS has essentially taken a substantial amount of potential revenue away from Sony.

That must be going down well with the devs. I wonder who they will prefer making games for. Especially since one of the 3 design goals of the PS5 was "listen to the developers"....

Let's ignore exclusives, and focus on these two apparent differences:

Better graphics on the Xbox (apparently it is better specced for this), or faster load times on Playstation (apparently that's what the special SSD will mostly do).

What do you prefer?

I'm leaning towards the much faster load times.

I'm willing to bet that the PS5 will have better graphics than the Series X. The Americans have gone their good old route of throwing raw horse power at the console (which will be expensive). Sony have gone for speed and efficiency in design.

It's like those big USA muscle cars, with huge engines and larger number of cylinders - that are slower than the Japanese turbo-charged whippets.

Very much so, you just don’t like to hear that Sony isn’t the holy grail you think them to be.

If theres anyone clinging to 'holy grail' mentality, its you. Most of your posts in this thread and previous threads proves your drooling love for MS. Not sure why though.

Experience and paying attention rather than just relying on past performance and blindly hoping for the best.

Let’s not forget the PS5 is literal vapourware at this stage yet people have already decided they will buy it.

If that isn’t ill informed and subjective decision making then I just don’t know.

Nope that's absolutely wrong. Not only is the XBSX more powerful, MS thanks to their experience with Direct X on PC is able to build an much more efficient API than Sony. Though the XBSX is only 15% more powerful than the PS5 on paper its likely to be more like 20% in the real world thanks to the Microsoft's API.

Will the devs actually make use of this extra power though?
Only if MS make it easy as flipping a switch to port a game from console to PC or vice versa.

So then experience and paying attention tell us that the PS5 is coming. How is that ill-informed? Thats what my decision is based on, so yes I will be buying it.

They've already revealed the Dual Sense controller. Is that also "vapourware"?

I've got the dude on ignore, but I can only imagine him frothing at the mouth over the PS5

PS - he used to be a moderator on the xbox forum.... ;)

It’s like placing an order for a car that you’ve never driven or even seen.

It’s very ill informed. It’s essentially gambling and not basing anything on merits of a product.

Also I’m not against the PS5. At this stage it just seems like a poor choice for a lack of information.

I might very well change my mind as more details come about.

Inevitably I will own both. It’s just about which one I’ll buy first and whether the second will be on special or ebucks purchase or outrightly bought.

I have owned every single generation of console except for the PS1 because a mate and I had a very liberal sharing arrangement which made with unnecessary. And I stopped with Nintendo at the Wii U.

Further to this I’ve also owned and still own both generations of PS4 and Xbox One.

and from past experience we know that "more powerful" doesn't equal more sales but, thats not the point now is it?
@Splinter never said the PS5 will be more powerful than the XSX but more effficient.

Erm from past experience we know exactly that.

The PS4 was more powerful and also launched slightly earlier.

It’s exactly why the next generation is going to be quite interesting as the XSX is more powerful and will likely launch first while the PS5 is struggling with its thermal issues.

Aaah! That makes a whole lot of sense now. :whistling:

Correction, administrator.

Oh yeah...it makes all the sense in the world since he also changed the very same platform to be multiplatform and not just an Xbox haven.

There’s that objectivity again.

XBox Series X for me.

I currently game on XBox One X, PC and Switch. Have been playing on XBox since the 360, then XBox One then XBox One X. It will probably be the same for other people too. The XBox people will stay with XBox and the Playstation people will stay with Playstation.

And I've basically said that that Microsoft has more experience and are better at creating efficient APIs than Sony thanks to their experience with Direct X on PC and these consoles are just modified PCs basically.

I don’t know hey.

A lot of die hard Xbox 360 people jumped to the PS4 with its earlier launch and Microsoft’s bad marketing and release strategy before launch of the Xbox One, which probably sunk the ship with that initial sales lead.

But mid generation a lot of people also picked up the Xbox One or switched entirely and then with the Xbox One X there was a surprising amount of switches to the more powerful console as the PS4 Pro just didn’t seem to commit and had a weird confusing message.

So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a great many do the inverse and switch from PlayStation to Xbox this time, especially if they launch first.

One thing to also bear in mind is that Microsoft doesn’t see the PC as a competitor but rather as part of their platform so they fully embrace the concept that PC gamers will have no need for an Xbox One and that’s also why total console sales don’t tell the whole story for Microsoft as a company.

A lot of people like to say how Xbox has lost the race when they look at pure console sales which is of course true if you look at only that. However Microsoft as a company vs Sony hasn’t really lost anything at all and their profits from their game divisions as a whole essentially balance out. Sony as a parent company doesn’t do so well though and PlayStation largely floats the boat, whereas Microsoft is an empire with a finger in every pie.

It will be interesting to see. Both consoles look great.

Game Pass is amazing though. Especially with Ultimate. I game on console and pc at a much lower cost since I rarely have to buy games.

And as you hoped, for this very reason it’s near as easy as flipping a switch to optimise and port a game over to the consoles that was developed for PC or even better developed for the console and then ported to the PC.
