Question about contraceptives

Do keep in mind that you get different kinds of pills and that the popular ones aren't necessarily the best ones. The ones they supply at clinics are cheap, but particularly bad for things like weight-gain and mood-swings, so really go through the effort of doing some research before settling on a specific one.

I have to agree here. My gf (now ex) went and did a lot of research about the whole thing (canadians!), and just because one pill works wonders for one person, doesnt mean dick about the next person... everyone is different.

script pills are generally better, and they are lower dosage which means just as effective, just better for your lady. there is a LOT of crap out there, Im not shocked at all when i hear about chicks putting on weight and serious mood swings coz the dosage is SO HIGH

shop around mate, and get something on a script. yes it might cost a bit more, and also a doctors visit for her, but its better in the long run for her body.

we settled on Alesse in the end (http://www.alesse.ca/). it needed a script, and was about R800(or more I cant remember) for 1 years worth... but it was low dosage, no side effects (for her) and most importantly ZERO lower sex drive... in fact im pretty sure it made it higher! lol

also keep in mind that you have different active ingredients, some synthetic and some non-synthetic... it all plays a part in how it will effect your lady.

if you wanna get into the Alesse website, use the DIN number 02236975 and click on english website.

28-day Alesse FTW :D

good luck mate!

Yasmin Birth Control Pill

+1

I only had minimal side effects in the first week (just achy breasts)

Has not affected my mood, no weight gain, no lowered sex drive.

I would suggest accompanying her to a gynae (it's scary for girls to go on their own!) and let a professional decide which contraceptive is most ideal and effective for her

+1 on Yasmin
The least amount of side effects and have had 2 opinions from doctors
of it being the best

yeah my GF has no mood swings on yasmine and sex drive is fine.....

been working for a couple of YEARS so quite secure guys.
only thing safer imo is taking out her gearbox like pitbull did.

My lady is on a 2 monthly injection she gets at a clinic. She used to be on the pill for a short while and it really didn't work well for her (mood, weight etc.).

She's fine on the injection and she doesn't get that time of month either.

We do take pregnancy tests now and again if we suspect something, but so far the injection has worked as required.

They've got a 3 months injection as well, but some women have reported a sterilizing effect on the 3 month cycle. Don't know how true it is though.

for a "maybe" little terasides :D

This thread has been most educational :D

Testimony sometimes beats scientific journals sometimes when it comes to things like these.

General vibe I'm getting is that pill A wont necessarily affect person B in the same manner it did with person A

I say get the snip :P It might be a little expensive but you don't stress about pregnancy :P

But after a few years it might not be reversible. ;)

So? Who needs kids...there's way too many people in the world already. Soon there won't be any space and governments will start implementing a birthcontrol system (out come the conspiracy theorists )

Go see a doctor. Seriously you can have a girl see your wedding vegetables but you're too shy to talk about it with a professional? Trust me they've seen and heard of much funnier things, and contraception isn't one of them

Besides, you shouldn't be seeking medical advice on a forum since diagnosis requires you to be physically examined. Remember that each pill may not necessarily have the same effect on every woman :)
