Quick question regarding .IPSW update files on iPhone

Hi,

I have been trying to download the IPSW file for iOS 6 to do a tethered boot. I know that when you do updates via iTunes a copy of the file gets saved on your PC. Now, I would like to know if the same happens when you update via settings on your phone does the file get saved somewhere. If so, where? I have been searching through the my phone's file structure for an hour now and no luck. It is huge, I could be here for days. I have tried searching online but haven't had any luck.

OTA updates on the phone are partial updates, so I think you are wasting your time digging around on the phone.

If you have bandwidth constraints and surplus petrol you are welcome to bring me a flash drive and copy it. Just specify which version you need.

I am uncapped at home. Not in CBD with a car today.

I have scratched through so much now and I think you are correct with it being a waste of time. I am enjoying scratching around though
