Wrong.
I miss the cricket and rugby, but can live without it.
Get to see the highlights on various streaming sites, and know the score the same time people watching on DSTV do.
Saving over R800 a month is a bonus.

We like actually watching the game live, seeing the highlights isn't really enough most of the time.
 
The amount of live sport on DSTV is staggering. More than enough value for the R700. Streaming and all that is cool, but not for sport, just doesnt work well enough.

But it is getting to a point where they would have to create a sport only option or people will just quit, im almost at that point

I have to add my bit too. OSN here in the middle east is around R1000pm. Inc HD PVR decoder on a 12months sub.

They have a few more HD channels and they have 3d available on Box office.

But the repeats are crazy, same if not worse than DSTV.

One good things is that some series, show the same time as the US and not 24 hours later. They just started a thing on Box Office premium, where you can even watch movies the same time as the local cinema release(at the price of a movie ticket).

I have it mainly for sport. I can watch most super and international rugby. They even showed most curry cup matches last year. So I assume the same will happen this year.
They have the cricket world cup on as well. In Full HD, all matches.

I have 4mb internet(4down, 1up) with a 12ms ping(not fibre, plain copper ADSL). Uncapped, unshaped for around R600(all inclusive). Great for streaming anything else I need to see. Like F1.

You cannot do a direct conversion from Rand to Pound.

£71.25 doesn't necessarily mean the same bite as R1280.50 out of one's income if you earn Pound Sterling.

Everybody knows how much I hate DSTV, but repeats are within the nature of the business.

It makes sense, repeat the shows so that people who missed it the first time can catch up, and fill up what would otherwise be blank space.
They do not have enough money or content to fill up every 24 hours with completely new material.

And if you don't like repeats then you should quit DSTV anyway and quit whining.

You guys are falling for their cheap excuse :eek: From the article, about 1200 worth of hours are pushed out and they need about 2000 odd hours. So instead of buying older "dated" content they would rather rewash what they already paid for. They can buy way more content and reduced prices of older series/shows/sitcoms and the like people here have never seen. They don't, they pay premium for Mythbusters as an example and rewash it for over a year... seriously? There are PLENTY of shows they can get instead of rewashing the same stuff for a year.
 
Just use Granddads smart card number and watch sport online on the DSTV website, plus all the other junk DSTV throws out. It's not as if Granddad is ever going to use DSTV online so let him pay and you use the online side of DSTV.
 
Can watch all cricket and football with streaming no problem only sport that is an issue for me is rugby..

Given that Multichoice source their content from international providers, the direct conversion actually has to happen.
 
What gets to me is yes the repeats, but to advertise on a channel that it's a new series when it was on another channel is basically lying.

Also all the adverts and advertising a program while you busy watching it shows the intellect of those running DSTV

I would love to see an option for the premium package minus sport. I hate subsidizing brainless ball chasing/hitting/throwing which is of no interest to me.

The thing is that VOD will eventually become the normal way of watching TV. It's still light years away though. Currently people are still stuck on the current way of watching TV. And there is nothing else apart from DSTV. TopTV I have never even watched so I doubt they even a contender. Multichoice will still milk this dead horse till there is nothing left unfortunately. I'm just glad I'm not part of this old heap of junk :p
