Quit DStv repeats or we will quit you

I signed up for DStv Premium from soon after it started up and everything seemed fresh and new then.

It didn't take too long to figure out that I had no use for about 90% of the channels, but could still find stuff to watch, and of course the price kept going up.

Now it's just ridiculous, the price, the repeats, and the adverts - all just too much to bear.

DStv advised me that they replay lots of older stuff because new subscribers haven't seen it.
Fair comment, but then charge new subscribers the new price. Don't hike the prices for long term subscribers who have already seen most of it 20 times.

In an hour long show, at least 15 minutes is adverts. That's bad, but even worse is the fact that they advertise themselves, they advertise the show that you are busy watching, and they advertise things on Discovery Science, a channel that doesn't exist on DStv.
They even throw in 6 minute "tutorials" to show me how to use my pvr. I really don't need that, I've been using the thing for 10 freekin years or more. What a joke.

I used My Choice and have been DStv free for... 33 Days, 20 Hours, 31 Minutes, 23 Seconds. 24 seconds 25 seconds 26 seconds ....
 
Yup. Surely if they keep repeating the older stuff which gets more and more they must be skimping on new stuff they could be showing.

Found about 8 channels the seemed worth watching, and then the price went up.

Tried to get only the channels I wanted, but couldn't - No Choice at Multichoice, you pay for the 90% junk or cancel out.
And the price went up, and the replays replayed.

I approached multi choice about the ever increasing price for the same old stuff and their response was that they do the replays because new subscribers haven't seen it.
That may be fair comment, but then charge the new prices to the new subscribers and leave the long term subscribers alone.
If anything, long term subscriber prices should go down every year.

And then the price went up, and the replays of the replays of the replays replayed, and they added more adverts.

No point talking to them. If you get a response, it's a cut and paste that's unlikely to answer your question.

What a useless, mindless, hugely expensive waste of time.

Seriously? As far as retarded campaigns go this has to be right up there... Not only is it completely unfeasable(and if they take away my babalas Top Gear Saturdays someone will die) there's a simple solution, stop paying them and pay an ISP instead.

See the latest Explora Advert they Multichoice are using the fact they repeat programs on an ongoing basis
so if you wanted to record 2 programs at similar times you could record the one and Explora will find another
convenient time to download the other program.
Are we all stupid? or rather there taken the piss out of us.
 
Food network..They've played the same content for about the past 6 days..Asian food, oyster dish, she says the guy looks like a cartoon character, groundhog day
 
Oh I seriously miss Dstv. In the uk I am on sky. They repeat everything, 10 times more than dsyv ever did. They also have the same channel on again, just time shifted +1 hour.

Every decent show is spread over so many different channels its difficult to find them, unlike with dstv it was way easier.

The interface is poor, difficult to navigate. If there is a clash with your recording, the pvr doesnt record and doesnt even bother too mention it.

Oh catch up ... yeah try looking for a needle in a haystack.

You want sports, extra £17. Oh movie channels another extra £7.

Their much vaunted sky antlantic channel, which is adbertised as this great channel that carries all the good hbo series, should be renamed the Blue Bloods and Without a Trace channel. From 7pm to 9pm, 7 days a week they show Blue Bloods and Wothout a trace. Since February when I got here. Its ridiculous. Oh and it is releated the next day twice, morning and afternoon.

Dstv is way better. Price wise it also compares.

At least we get netflix though.

Everybody knows how much I hate DSTV, but repeats are within the nature of the business.

It makes sense, repeat the shows so that people who missed it the first time can catch up, and fill up what would otherwise be blank space.
They do not have enough money or content to fill up every 24 hours with completely new material.

And if you don't like repeats then you should quit DSTV anyway and quit whining.

Europe has a massive selection of TV channels and they don't repeat as often as DSTV. They also have decent movies, not the 2yr-old junk you get here.

Really? Read the post above yours, having also seen the exact thing in the UK back in 2008. DSTV is following the worldwide standards and is easier to navigate.

Pick up a copy of DSTV magazine and tell me how many movies are less than 2 yrs old please.

I honestly don't actually know how to answer you? How are they supposed to populate all the movie channels with only 24 months worth of content? I am not sure how any provider would supply that for 24/7.
My point is that Sky is no better and you're comment on the European ones is likely wrong.

Sky is just one service, the UK has more. They also have cable. Europe has a multitude spread across many satellites.

At one time I had nearly ALL of Europe's channels to watch on a moveable dish and it was awesome.

There are even 200 channels free in the UK from one provider, Freesat.

That's not really the point. It's how old a movie is before it starts showing.

distribution rights dictate when movies are allowed to air on tv, that's not in their control and also they are airing movies a lot sooner now like 6 months after release.
 
Where is the logic of showing 5 episodes of the same series showing one episode after the other. Not kiddies programs btw.
Who has time to sit down for 4 hours at one time.
Jobless people maybe.
Lol only people in favour of DSTV are those with shares.

Personally, I have no problem with repeats. It's the way TV works. I seldom if ever watch a TV movie anyway, maybe once a year just to keep my wife company.

But Arthur, that's like saying someone who hardly ever uses a bus has no problems with bus scheduling. :)
