R50 Uncapped 24hrs - Discussion

a mild disaster.

Loaded the bundle and got a message that it should be activated. the fastest way to do this is the ussd:

*141*6*5*3*1#

I wish vodacom had this. My vc connection is SUPERFAST (3m+) by comparison while the MTN signal in my office kinda sucks. It is the other way around at home. Well, not quite. VC sucks at home and MTN suffices - still not fast by any measure.
Target: acquire Linux Netbook Remix (680MB)

I downloaded the first 150 in just short of 2 hours. Yup - it is that slow. I then left to fetch kids and upon return, about another 50 or so down the pipes. Time is around 16h00. I leave it to go, figuring by morning I will have the full DL.

Get to office this morning and it stopped at around 320 MB!!!!!!

Fuuuuuuuuuu...

You get the picture. MTN signal so bad this thing needs monitoring all the time. Finishing of the DL with my VC connection. It wants to get remain 360 in 23 mins. And so far so good. In the time it has taken me to type this, we have 451/680 with 20 mins left.

I got the value (300mb for R50 on 3G is not a bad deal) but not the value I WANTED. Might try again one day when I find a strong MTN signal.

Hi I had the same problem as you I loaded my 1day UNLIMITED @ 17:24 on 16/04/2010 7hours later I was kicked off @ 12:24 Call the Data center 12 times to correct the problem 17 hours missing here is a list of the time date ref numbers and operators

Bug maybe... No don't think anyone has experienced this.
 
thanx 4 d info Spyral. they refunded my airtime yday but my bundle is still pending. i also had to go through 1 consultant who deferred way out of d subjct at hand. ambrose & monica were very much helpful.

how much total data were you able to transfer in 24hrs?

Hmm.. Downloads on 3G have never disconnected. Usually on 3G profile, I get a constant 48kbps, with a manager, whilst on mobile it's like 32kbps.
 
MTN is balls, dont be surprised if you activate this and find out you owe something like R3000 when you bill comes in :rolleyes:

Never trust them and that sh(i)tty system when it comes to data billing
 
mm il try with my 7.2modem or 3.6 phone and check how much i can download,maybe im lucky and they dont throtle me, still have unregistered sim card that works:)

I am on Edge and still on my 24 hours, 4 hours left will post back @ 01:15 2010/04/20

We have just passed 1Gig 4 hours still to go (soft-cap kicked in @ 355mb)

There's bug-er all for contract customers...by contract i mean postpaid...so called,even when data bundles were out...
 
Hi everyone

Update: I got 24hours & 30min and my total = 1.1Gig on edge (as I said above post soft-cap kicked out at 355mb)

Tip: Download the latest Firefox and run 2 downloads at the same time both will download at 9.0 - 9.5 kbs if you only download 1 file = 10 - 11 kbs

Have any of you guys tested this with skype? Once you get throttled, what you think will happen? Will you still get alright call quality???

Skype worked great on iBurst's 64kbps throttled service.

Thanks ginggs. Interesting. Bought a Vodacom 150meg bundle yesterday for skype on Vodacom while im away from wifi. I wonder what would actually work out cheaper...the bundle will last me a 2 - 3 days....where as this will only last 24 hours. mmm...something to ponder. :confused:
