RAIN Huawei 5G CPE Pro settings

Can’t you guys stop playing around with the router … we all love gadgets and stuff and technology but if you gonna change settings and dark mode and all those stuff clearly you gonna have a problem the 5g is a plug and play
Sure 5G and LTE is plug and play... if you are just going to send emails. If you want to game or take full advantage of the 5G speeds. Its no longer plug and play. It takes time to find where is the best signal and best speeds. Along with a stable connection for consistent ping results.

Hey Ghost … I’m close to a 5g tower and I never had a problem since … could it be that the tower that gives problems either have to much people on them or could be that it’s to far to some interference on them …

The entire firmware was upgraded so a lot of fundamental changes to the router system one of them just being a whole new interface.

I haven’t noticed any difference in speed since the change though, so it’s not purely the firmware update but might be specific to a particular area and the way it connects to certain towers.
I haven’t seen a software update on the router at home yet … which I’m waiting for but what I can say is if you within the area of coverage and the tower you connected to isn’t really giving you good speeds trying other towers shouldn’t hurt much …

I know the guys in here want there service that they pay for … but by know most people know that rain isn’t just as easy as that … unless you in area that a lot of people are actually using Fibre instead of rain or something like that …

I have been with rain since 2018 and it haven’t been smooth sailing so I’m not taking that away from guys in here all I’m saying is let’s help instead of just typing a upsetting message to rain that won’t help a lot … its either one go with a other ISP but rain isn’t smooth sailing as yet

Our problem in area is it seems only one 5g tower works, even after disconnectr and rseset it still connects to that same tower

This afternoon rain went from 170 mb/s to 10 mb/s, who can work with crap like this

Nonsense and what a bullshit defeatist attitude.

I’ve had rain at 250MB+ speeds on AVERAGE and very little in the way of issue for just about a year.

If others had the same and they are suddenly getting 20% of that after knowing exactly what changed then there is an obvious and fixable problem.

It’s a different story if you got Rain for the first time and it’s never worked properly.

for over 3 months speed in excess of 170 mb/s firmware update dips below 50mb/s, now one of two things, they tried disconnect me from tower and connect to other towers, does not happen, either other towers are down, and this tower carry load of whole are, which is probably as I gotr this morning 170 mb/s and now less than 5 mb/s or alternatif, something happ[ened with firm ware update

You aren’t helping anyone in any way at all.

How old are you? You taking like someone either still in or fresh out of school.
I recommend not entertaining him, seems like its what he wants. He admitted to being a troll, apparently trying to join the "party" as he said...

Moral of the thread: RAIN isn't plug and play.

I've had consistent speeds (250mbs +) for about a full year (after locking to 5G). I have noticed some atrocious pings in the past few days and crazy variations with the speed, 1 test = 100mb+ DL, next one = 15mb.

I haven't received any firmware update yet. Gonna try a few more tweaks from this thread and provide an update.

I've always had remarkable speeds at my store in Kempton Park. Router was on a shelf in the office. Got Rain to come out and do an external installation as upload was about 5-6% of download speed. Worked brilliantly and then an automated router software upgrade kind of broke it. The tower we had aligned the installation to was no longer the tower the router was connecting to.

So, Rain talked me through the developer mode configurations and using the tower PCI I am able to lock it to the tower of choice...

I actually need to do this at home as well … the tower we connected to is a little to far

The hardest part of the process is finding the PCI value of the various towers. I have the ear of an employee who supplied me with the details on request... I don't think it's a secret, more a case of knowing who to ask..

It's really not a secret, your android phone can map it

I think if I should ask I’ll get it I just don’t feel like getting onto the roof for now … lol and turning it to the directions of the other tower

Cool, thanks for that. Had no idea. I found this article and was able to map a few towers around my area. https://www.waveform.com/blogs/main/cell-tower-mapping

Update: Got the new firmware, DL's are 180ish - 220mbps. UL's around 10-20 :crying: Haven't made any changes yet, just monitoring. Great project for the long weekend.

Even this Rain Representative is full off it.... Wont trust rain or any representative of them, making empty promises to keep you on the line for the next month and the next just to make as much out of you as they possibly can. Coming up with radicicolous theories that the problem is on your side and even though you can show them that it is not and follow all they're "professional" instructions. If you have ever spend about 3-4 hours on these forms you can call yourself a Rain technician, as the "technicians" they send to you will try even less and tell you they don't know what is wrong or how to fix it... For R1000 a month, you will get better service and information from a library reading an encyclopedia. This is my last rant on this forum, cancelling this so called service today before they try to scam me for another month.
