RAIN LTE-A: Speedtests

This is what I have to put up all week with Rain. I am tired of complaining as nothing gets done beyond @rainmobile asking for my email address.

If only Vumatel will get off their ass and sort out the fibre in my neighbourhood now.

Mine was pathetic for the last week as well.
Cant even load a speedtest to post results.
And when loadshedding started its been practically unusable the entire day.

Oh here we go, finally can run a speedtest to show my brilliant results.
I think they disconnected me from the tower as I got no service and had to reboot.
Rain must be so proud of their world class service offering.
The all you can eat buffet where theres nothing left for some.

https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/rain-routing.1119834/ - I need not say more.

Also how come every time I phone rain and complain about my speeds I get told, It's congestion yet congestion always happens to leave with me EXACTLY 2mbps speeds never more, always less.

This is blatant traffic shaping, if it was congestion I would be noticing erratic speeds ranging within what was promised of 10mbps but no it's always 2mbps, this is 100% blatant traffic shaping to control congestion which still doesn't work.

@Rain fix your routing.

Just got my router and activated the sim. Speeds are not as fast compared to others, especially the upload.

I'm using the router indoors for now. I'm in Morningside, Sandton.

Ping: 30ms
Download: 0.89Mbps
Upload: 5.54Mbps

Just got my rain sim set up and RICA'd. Is this the general speeds expected on 4G unlimited? Dont understand how I can 5.5Mbps upload and .89Mpbs download - mind you this is the highest download speed I've experienced since yesterday, uploads always seem to be much higher than downloads. Also this is the only device connected to the router & no updates/background apps running.

Not bad at all but the upload speed does fluctuate throughout the day

Hi @Ashwinmuthu1419

I have received your PM and i responded back

Does anyone know what is up with Rain upload and download speeds? I got an external antenna last week, so my reception is at 4 out of 5 bars, and I have gone up from under 1Mbps download and no upload speed, but still? Is this the best you get with Rain?

Activated 4G Rain sim a few days ago as a back up. I cancelled fibre with Webafrica after the whole debit order disaster and was not sure how long it will take for the new ISP to setup and migrate the fibre service so figured ill give Rain a go as i was thinking i can also use it in my dual sim smartphone.

Huawei B315 router, I was ok the first day - struggled the second day - useless the third day - cancelled the service on the 3rd day. Test result - great signal connecting to a tower not to far away, day 1 I was seeing 20Mbps downloads. Luckily the fibre with the new ISP is up and running.
