RAIN unusable at night

So I find every night it shows way down. I do an eskom reset and I'm back up to great speeds after that. It's a pita, but at least it works.

Sometimes this works, sometimes it even worse after a hard reset.

I'm just really gatvol, its like its just impossible getting a proper fixed LTE solution which is stable

Coverage in Sunninghill, JHB is really subpar too. On average I'm getting 9mbps down and 1mbps up.

Mine seems to be back to what it was, but I am on the top-end package. I wonder if these guys are able to affect whether your sim slows down depending on your data package or not?

I'm also very tempted to get the Cell C LTE deal from Axxess which looks fairly decent - just over half the price of the 330GB Rain deal, offering 200GB.

This is what seems to work for me.
It can’t be congestion. There is something happening with the connection that restores speed with a reset.

Lucky you. At night my download is < 1Mpbs and my upload is, well, nearly non-existent (speedtest.net errors out on the upload test).

I'm in the "planned" coverage area for fibre (supposedly 2 to 6 months). They can't get here quick enough for me!

I don’t know what is happening today

Vuma guy came down road yesterday said aerial fibre should be installed in up to 6 weeks. So bye bye rain good riddance

Same story in Stellenbosch. used to get 40MBPS day and night, now I am lucky if I see 6MBps during the day... never get more than 1 mbps past 1930. Call up MWEB and they blame my location, despite it having worked excellent previously.

Cancelled today, and going back to my local WISP. 4MBPS, with a 1 TB cap.

Has anybody moved across to this new Cell C fixed LTE offering and is able to make a comparison? I'm getting annoyed with this erratic network now too. It's not cool anymore.

I tried the the CELL C Sim with LTE A 2 days ago, Was pleasantly surpised with the results. 50/50 up / down during off peak. 30/30 Peak time.
20-50ms ping. Had strong signal whereas my RAIN has weak 1/5.

Long story short, Seems the RAIN network is flooded / congested at the moment and no one seems to care :)

Thanks. I think I might give them a try, but I don't think 200GB is going to be enough for me. :(

Fast.com says I'm getting a whipping 250kbps now (Wynberg, Cape Town).

I was getting 7Mbps 2 hours ago.

I was getting 25Mbps when I first started with Rain a couple of months ago.

Also waiting for Fibre to come in the next few weeks.
Parklands North, Table View.

After 5pm rain is unusable.
Can hardly open a web site never mind stream some music.

rain.jpg

0.71 Download, 0.65 Upload with a nice 436ms ping.

DONT GO FOR RAIN or web africa. Logged a call on the 4th of December and they just dont give a crap.

I'm down to 15Kb/s. It'd be laughable if I could pry myself away from the frustration. All with local latency between 20 and 30ms

I have experienced a big improvement in the evenings (touching wood).

This is from a moment ago, but it has been good all week at all times of the day. Maybe a few people jumped over to other suppliers?

When I first got the rain package, latency was great (8-20ms) and speeds were awesome. (10-20mbps)

Been seeing really high latency at night (400-800ms) since November, along with low speeds. (1-2mbps)

Since February my latency at night has been as high as 20,000ms(!) with awful speeds of around 200-300Kbps.
This is just f%%%%ing ridiculous, I might as well have kept my MTN uncapped contract.

EDIT:
I cant even post this from RAIN LTE because it just times out, latency at the moment of 56,000ms. Yay.
