*READ FIRST* iBurst Network Status & Issues (DNS, Throughput and Latency)

I brought my iBurst modem with me to Centurion today to see if there is something wrong with the device. It works perfectly here. Downloaded my mails and the latest World of Warcraft updates without any issues.

This brings the following to my mind then:
1 - There is either something wrong with the signal in my area.
2 - The signal is fine, but something else is causing serious interference there.

Now, also take the following into account:
1 - When I moved to Booysens Pretoria, I had good signal and connection with a WoW latency of 288. :D
2 - I have the desktop modem with one of those omni-directional antenae thingies mounted on the roof. :D
3 - My signal strenght is normally between 90% and 100%, but sometimes randomly fluctuates between 40% and 100% :wtf:
4 - The error rate is the biggest problem, regularly going above 5% and spiking at above 20%, causing slow download, website loading and zero gaming capabilities. :(

How can I find out what is causing my issues? iBurst signal or some type of interference? I went to a Telkom connection last year when these issues started, but that line has been stolen quite a few times now and they won't replace it anymore. So my iBurst connection is my only hope.

I.NEED.MY.WOW!

I am noticing that a number of people complaining are from the Pretoria area (not all though). If I recall correctly (rooi mentioned something earlier in this thread I think) a new line was going to be installed between Pta and centurian or joburg by the end of October.

I am wondering if the new line is not giving issues? Maybe I am clutching at straws but really - Pta seems to be a issue.

Further to my post at 11-11-2011 08:27 AM

Before someone says I should check my coverage - I just checked the coverage map for my area. It seems I am now in a "poor" coverage area. When I moved there September 2010, the connection was NOT poor and I could play my online games, even tanking heroics in WoW. A month or so later it suddenly went pear-shaped and I switched to Telkom. My contract is at end-of-life now and I am looking to buy a house - hopefully with a Telkom line...

Ok here is the thing, all my international latency has gone for a ball of **** since the new deals arrived. A iBurst tech also pointed out to me that my basestation is also under much greater load all of a sudden god knows why and I have noticed this between 6-10 PM during the evenings. For me it seems there is not enough capacity to coup with the demand lately and the network feels congested. I am currently unhappy with the throughput and latency I am getting during the evening it has dropped enough for me to notice, its just way too spiky and this has only happened since begining of last month. It wasnt like this 6 months ago.

Also iBurst reprenstation on this forum has been lacking for months now, especially on the technical side of things.I seen this too and I am not happy about it.

Luckily the time-outs and disconnects seem to have stopped my side, but the speeds have definitely dropped and even downloads of around 60/70 MBs take ages to come through.

Friday night and the internet is useless again and has been for the past 4 hours.
I regret renewing my iBurst contract to be honest, this month has been horrible.

Im in pretoria, rietfontein, and my Ibust is terrible... i got so exited on the new data plan, and now everything has gone to... heck i dont know where its at now. has no one gotten a hold of someone at the company yet? Im starting to think a certain someone who has been fired from office this week has been running the company. Hopefully iburst recovers sooner than 5 years :-/

Been battling for the past week with iBurst - connect to the internet, but then suddenly get continuous timeouts - really frustrating (sigh)

Working fine on my side now. I hope it stays that way.

Time to start the midnight downloads.
