So I ordered a new mobo from Rebeltech about a week ago. I have made payment and two days ago I sent my Proof of Payment and I still have not heard back from them.

This is my first time ordering from them after reading good reviews on MyBB.

Very disappointing so far. Am I expecting too much? I had much better service from Wootware.

What's going on here?

I'm sorry your product hasn't worked as advertised.

Have you attempted turning it off and on again?

dude did u read the OP O my word :?

or stop trolling

I ordered a new drive from them and it took a bit of effort to get info out of them but got my drive yesterday. I sent them a mail a day after paying to find out whats happening, they couldn't find my proof of purchase so I sent it again. It took a few mails and phone calls (which included a bit of fibbing on their side) to get details regarding delivery.

The whole process took a lot more effort than what I am used to when ordering online. Fortunately being a nagging customer payed off.

I've also had a bad experience with Rebeltech - I ordered a SSD from them only to get a faulty device... fair enough but it took them more than 3 weeks to collect the device and I still havnt heard anything back from them. Im a new customer spending R4k on one hard disk yet they couldnt care less - last time I shop there.

Faxing or e-mailing proof of payment to them has no effect because they will wait until the transfer shows on their account. In my chase the item were sent via the post office and they still wasted another three days before posting it resulting in a delivery time of more than a week. I am afraid that is my experience with all the local establishments that I have done business with. The reasons for this: the South African business attitude towards their clients, the level of crime prevents them from believing even a proof of payment sent by a Bank and the fact that none of them are wholesalers and do not keep any stock. At the same time I ordered from Rebeltech I ordered some engine parts from Canada on a Sunday and I had the parts in hand on the next Friday. Oversees firms work seven days a week , will reply to any inquiries within 24 hours, If they don’t have stock they will inform you and inform you when they get stock , you don’t have to place your order before they have the item. Lets face it If it were not for the weak Rand, our corrupt Post office and expensive freight costs none of us would waste our time with local on-line companies. But this is Africa so things must take longer and cost more.

Why are you guys still paying for things on the Internet using EFT's. Are you crazy? In this day and age you should only use a debit or credit card to buy things over the Internet, you have absolutely no protection when paying by EFT.

If you bought stuff from a reputable online retailer like Kalahari or Takealot, and paid by credit card, you wouldn't suffer any of these problems.

Rebeltech only deals via EFT. I only buy books and games from Kalahari, their computer components are limited and over-priced. The stuff I did buy from them took about ten days before delivery because they must first get it from their supplier. As far as Takealot goes : They are manipulating the void left by Amazon’s refusal to ship to South Africa because of our embarrassing post office and have an agreement from Amazon to import items from them for customers. The problem is that they sell the items at double the price!

I think Rebeltech are in over their heads. I see on their web site they are advertising a position in sales. I read through the job description and it is basically for someone to handle everything... I don't think things went all that well for them while Rune was on his trip overseas (read that on MyBB somewhere - apparently was involved in an accident there too...) Since November, things seemed to be on a steady downward spiral. They went from having 2 insignificant negative Hellopeter complaints to quite a few. Their web site also seems to be really far behind with a lot of items out of stock - some have been out of stock so long that they have become redundant. Their ad at least tells me they 'may' be aware that their service is not as it used to be.

I personally hope to see them recover what used to be one of the best on-line stores at one point - which was why I used them without any reservation - until my last order which seemed to drag it's feet a bit until I started applying a bit of pressure. For now, I will consider other options and try them again in a couple of months time.

I once pointed out the obvious 'customer is king' cliche with regards to another on-line retailer - and was told that the concept is BS and outdated - but when you read posts as above, that 'outdated concept' cannot be ignored.

There are so many companies you could go work for.........check maybe MTN / Neotel/ Telkom are hiring :D

This is all bad news. I was ready to order around during R7000 worth of stuff from them today or tomorrow. Did not realise they only do eft though. Back to the net for me then. Can anybody recommend another company out there that have credit card payment and good service.

Wootware is always good, worth paying a little more for peace of mind..

Same here. Their prices were a few hundred less than everyone else.
