Report blames apartheid for violence

The San just fled into the Drakensberg mountains, and died from starvation and cold for no reason at all. Crazy people !

I wonder just who is trying to shape the reality here ???

Maybe its the descendents of the marauding killers from the 1600's and 1700's.

Must be the Apartheid Whites !!! Oh wait, they weren't there ...

Yeah, the report cost money. And it didn't actually produce anything that people didn't already suspect/make educated guesses about. But nevertheless it's meant to be a scientific study. As much as we might venture guesses, few of us are actual social anthropologists, or can even expect our own views to be representative of a large group of people; so in all fairness, i'd lean towards science than internet punditry.

Yup. There was a culture of violence in Europe, too. D'you know they only abolished slavery in England in 1808? Did you know that torture was an accepted practice in Spain right up until the 20th century?

Saying Africans are violent only means they are part of the human race and the same as everyone else. The situation on the African continent has yet to progress as far as it has in Europe - but then Europe was also full of tinpot dictators hell-bent on waging wars, killing their own people and sucking their countries dry. Spain's self-declared ruler Franco, for example, presided over a highly oppressive regime that lasted from his arrival in office in 1939 to his death in 1975.

That's even longer than Mugabe! :p

Yea but the point you are making is that humans are violent but in the same breath you are blaming the past for the violence. It does seem odd though that through out africa you have violence and genocide but everyone keeps blaming the whites or colonialists. Sad that Africans cannot stand up and say yes violence is a problem on the continent let's do something about it.

Instead it's blame and ignore the problem.
 
Well, let's see what it's like 40 years after the ANC have been "managing" our beautiful country! Sorry, but there are times I think we had a better life pre-democracy!

It's kind of like blaming a 5 year old kid for smashing a plate after he watched his parents throwing crockery around during their nightly domestic arguments.

Sorry if anyone finds this distasteful, but no matter what your skin colour is, if you don't have access to decent education you're not going to behave like a European university graduate.

Another example is the beef between China, North Korea and Japan. There's been injustices performed over centuries now (mainly by Japan) and there are many people still incredibly bitter about that on all sides. For the sake of progress and moving on, telling China and NK to just move on would be great. But is that really going to work? We can too easily picture the idealistic situation- but practically speaking, how likely is it? Pipe dreams are pipe dreams for a reason.

Lol, come on now...I mean to REALLY UNITE. Meaning remove these borders and all this immigration crap, we should be able to move from top to bottom with no problems, again look at how the US/EU union rules are set-up. Much different from these "African Union" rules.

So the leaders and community leaders are violent and setting the example? I would have to agree africa's leaders are like 5 year olds, in fact i think 5 year old may be more intelligent. I guess when you have presidents murdering and raping i guess the population just follows.

Makes sense now.

Not sure where the past fits in though unless you know of a place where whites are killing and raping in front of black toddlers showing them the way.

You have a point. Quite a few of these lovely leaders are very intelligent, very educated people. Mugabe, for one, comes to mind. But the thing is he has a poor, downtrodden, mainly rural, not highly educated populous to work with, and hey, look at the US track record in elections: playing on people's emotions gets you way further in politics than sitting down and being sensible about stuff...

Well, in the era of mild-segregation and slavery, a lot of white slave owners would rape the black slaves in-front of the womans own family. You can Google it for more info. =/

Trouble with africa is not the level of education which granted is lacking but it is the mentality. You can be the very well educated but if you have a backward mentality zimbabwe is the net result along with a bunch of other countries.

Vio what does that have to do with crime today though, how does that era end up affecting 19 year olds of this era? Exactly how are the whites or past making people commit these horrid crimes in this day and age which is 2010 in case you are stuck in the past.

So what you are saying is the white man is the reason black people murder and rape EACH other?

The report didn't say whites are doing anything wrong now, neither is it using Apartheid as an excuse or something. It's just saying that it definitely caused a lot of deep social ills, which it did!

What we need to do now is look forward, and work together to make this place better and I think everyone agrees on that.
 
We are the last generation of whites in this country the ANC will drive every young educated white person out of SA with there racist outlook.
