RICA

But you can use a Church's address? Or the local shopping centre?
It's not as easy as that, you will need an affidavit from the church or shopping centre, I don't know how easily they'll be giving those out.

For those of you that are holding out- i respect your cause but in this case, while admirable, we cannot fight the government. My companys hands are tied, as with all the networks, im sorry...

Actually, in this case it is extremely simple to fight the government. Just don't comply, there is no need to. There has been no need to for any existing customers. Wait until the very last moment as a form of protest.

This has got to be the thread of the year. You guys crack me up. Especially the guy who lives in the camper combi... Lmao

I did the whole RICA-thing at the Tygervalley MTN SP when it was first announced. After that I upgraded my contract at the MTN SP store in Tygervalley. This morning I noticed on my account statement that I am apparently not registered - after two registration opportunities! So I phoned 808 and the lady confirmed that I am indeed not registered. My colleague checked her account statement now, and low and behold she is also not registered anymore (she also upgraded after her initial RICA).

I just wonder how many other customers are affected and don't know it?

Similar thing happened to me with Standard Bank and FICA, I diligently submitted my documents as soon as it was announced, found out later they had lost them so submitted them again. Finally after the deadline passed I found I had limited access to my account so had to submit a third time. For RICA I am just going to wait it out.

Ok, i have posted an addendum to my original post- ssssssseems i cant RICA other service providerssss ie Nashua, autopage- only MTEL clients, odd considering i can RICA prepaid wouldnt you think?:wtf:

Same here. Std Bank caused me so much grief, I found it easier to just open a new account at a different bank.

When the deadline for the current extension is reached, it'll be extended again. I'll probably change address a couple of times before they 'enforce' it for real. Will wait till then.

From what I remember RICA started in July 2009, and from then all SIM cards had to be RICA'd before activation.

I took out a subscription in September with MTN through MTN Direct. The phone was delivered to my home address and I had to supply a copy of my ID and proof of residence.

I now find that the SIM is not RICA'd.

What is the point? MTN have all the information and absolute proof of residence and have done F all.

Something else I don't understand, is the Cellphone Industries "INSISTENCE" that every time you buy a cellular device, you have to take a SIM card, with it. Now with RICA, it just get more onerous.

My cellphone suffered "water damage" as a result, I had to buy myself another phone, so now I have a RICA'ed SIM lying around the house somewhere that I have no use for whatsoever. My wifes cellphone was stolen, with similar results. So in total, there are 2x RICA'ed SIM's lying around the house, which are of no use to man or beast, unless the "Domestic" has quietly "collected" them ... , from my point of view, she is welcome ...

I really do not understand the cellphone industries need, to hand out SIM's like sweets at a Christmas Party ... , especially taking into consideration the requirements of the RICA stupidity ...

This RICA system is BS.

You guys are providing all the evidence right here. Imagine the clowns that are currently running this country trying to manage this on top of fixing potholes or changing a light bulb at a Traffic light. – Please.

I wonder if Juliass has RICA’d his fncking phone.

I can honestly say WHY should i RICA? I just got this contract in December?? Why is it not automatic, when my phone was delivered i had to give mtn proof of residence plus copy of ID, i am not sending it twice!

What makes you think you are not RICA'd? I thought all new SIMs and contracts would be RICA'd since June 2010.
