cool, i'll email you shortly.
At least we can now RICA 'online'

Now only make a site so i can check if i am RICA'd ...or tell me where it is. I don't trust these MTN cash shop people , you don't even get a "proof of RICA" document or anything, they just go "it's done" ...i mean WTF . If i FICA at a bank, they give me a document which i can use as "proof of residence" [so FICA'ing by itself gives you a legal document to use for any further FICA requirements] .

You'd think RICA would be also work like, i.e. if i RICA a sim, i should get a document which i can use for any OTHER sim cards [to speed up the process of course] .

Either way, watch, MTN most likely screwed up and suddenly next year my phone will be cut off without warning and then be told i've not RICA'ed . [as you can see i don't trust MTN or Vodacom to do their jobs properly] .

I can check if your number has been Rica'd too, if you need my assistance just shout.
Remember trust issues with big companies are never an easy topic, i doubt we will ever work em through sadly...

I know with VC you can check via the website if your sim is rica'd or not.

Thanks for the offer, Snakepit...but riddle me this:

I signed up for a new contract with MTN in July last year. They have _ALL_ my details. Why should I now RICA the sim? Surely it should be an automatic process.

Even if you signed up 10 years ago for a contract, they still have all your info. I thought RICA was to stop prepaid sim users from being naughty.

Well i reckon since prepaid customers were being naughty we all had to pay the piper...

If you did Rica in July ( its was around then still) then by all means one doesnt need to again, you couldve moved from July though?

So I have to re-Rica each time I move? That's silly. How would they know? They won't cut me off based on info they don't know changed.

I am protesting RICA by not complying. Because of other people not complying RICA's deadline has been extended. In my opinion, everybody that has complied before they absolutely had to (when your service is temporarily disconnected) have no right to complain about losing more of their privacy.

I have a question that I cannot find an answer to ...

In March this year I dumped the phone number I had had for the past 12 years, as I was getting so much spam. I entered into a totally new mobile contract, with a new mobile number, in March 2010, with Nashua Mobile, and had to supply them with all the needed docs like bank statement / ID / proof of residence. Do I too need to go through the RICA registration again?

I just checked mine... not RICA'd and I renewed my contract about a month ago with a new sim in store ... eish.

Ed Zachery.

I'm due mid dec. Still not rica'd though I had the contract moved into my name in June. Makes you wonder...

Might have to take you up on that snakepit. Good to have at least one person in the entire organisation that's willing to do a smidgeon extra. :)

Kinda in that camp too. As a paying contract customer, what happens when they disable my account? Will I still get billed?

Might be an opportunity to try out a new provider... Temporarily, or perhaps not :p
