The link for the RN/Vuma price adjustment notice:
https://www.rocketnet.co.za/price-increase-vuma/

4/1 to 10/2 is R94
The unchanged packages increase by R34, so effectively the speed bump was R60.

Pretty sure I said I'll be happy to pay R50 for it.

SO THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Just kidding of course. Quite happy with the extra bits.
Thanks guys!

Notice was received by both mail and SMS.

Good day

Unfortunately not at the moment, however this has been brought up in meetings and as soon we can provide solid information that is accurate it will posted on this forum.

Kind regards
Cool beans. Openserve is probably the biggest fibre network in SA or second biggest after Vumatel not sure who is bigger so there are quite a lot of potential clients there.

Good idea.

I just saw MarcoLan's month-to-month offerings with no set up fee.

That's how it should be done. I think I'll also give them a try and see
Just make sure you double check their terms and conditions. Most ISPs will charge a clawback fee if they cover anything for you and you leave within 12 months. E.g. I was previously with WebAfrica and they had that clause. Depending on the ISP it might them actually be cheaper to take a 12month contract anyway.

Not about pinching pennies ultimately. About finding the right service provider with business practices that actually aren't questionable. Besides, MacroLan isn't exactly a fly by night pop up ISP.

Let's just face reality - NO ISP is great but offering the consumer the freedom of month-to-month affords consumers the opportunity to actually try and test the worth of an ISP as opposed to getting tied in despite the inevitable terrible service coming down the line at some point.
never heard of them and I have a pretty decent finger on the pulse of the industry and have been online since iAfrica days.

I always go month-to-month and pay the installation and router cost up-front. I don't want to owe the ISP anything, but I also don't want to be locked into a contract just because those things are "Free"

I also won't want to sign up if I can't use the router for something else (like wireless providers did in the early 2000's with carrier-specific "routers")

Might not be fly-by-night, but certainly struggles to be an ISP:

This is the reply to the "clawback fee" from Macrolan.
"We have no hidden clauses etc , the only requirement we have is one calendar month notice should you wish to cancel and the return of our router."

Can't comment on torrents.

Depends on what games. Fortnight going to the UK seems to be about 150-180

Normal browsing is fine.

HTTP downloads are epic.. especially if using a download manager

I dont twitch a lot .. but when I have it's always been source 1080p source quality streaming.

If you give me CSGO server IPs I can ping them for you.
