Router Battery Backup

Volkano <- there is your problem
Nah, many others brands use the same hardware. They are all rebranded.

Yeah most do, just rebranded dodgy ones.

How are you checking how much it is drawing? Can you confirm the voltage that is supplied by the mini ups?
I will have to figure out a way and get back to you, I only have the power supply sticker and it said 0.5 Amps so I guess it can draw more but no clue how to check that.

OK. Im just wondering if your mini ups is actually outputting 12v. I'll check mine with a multimeter. I have one that looks similar to yours.

But maybe yours is faulty.

I just tested with a multimeter:

My UltraLAN one outputs 12.5v

My Gizzu outputs 12v

And the one that came with my Huawei 3g router outputs 12.4v

Hi

I need some help, I bought the Gizzu 100W DC 46Wh Mini UPS Black, got it from Takelalot
yesterday but I expected longer battery life.

I have 2 routers plugged into it, both 12v. I turned the power off 05:15 this morning and at 10:00am
battery showed 50%, 10:30am the ups switched off. Is that all I can expect 5h15min?

Plugged it back in and was back on 50% within 20min.

Sounds reasonable for two routers on a 14400mAh battery.

5 hours is a solid battery life for that battery. Will get you through two slots of loadshedding.

Which one is better for a router and vumatel box for uninterrupted internet during loadshedding?

Ultralan
or
Gizzu
I use 2 of the "Gizzus" (though mine are the original Ratel 860p's and 60W).
And I use one of the Ultralans. Much of a muchness to be honest. My only gripe is with the Ultralan ... that screen can light up a room like there is no tomorrow, so I won't use it in an area where people are sleeping

Could someone please double-check my research, and answer a few questions I have.

I am looking to keep the following on for a maximum of four hours a day (2x 2 hours)

Asus RT-AC88U - Power supply says "19V - 2.37A" while the Manual says "19V with max 2.37A/3.42A current"
&
Ubiquiti Ufiber LOCO GPON - Power supply says "Micro-USB: 5V, 1A"

The router being 19V, limits my UPS options as not many of them have that output.

Going through this thread it loos like the Ratel 8100 (Or the rebranded Netogy) are the best/only option I have? Don't mind spending more for a bigger battery since they eventually degrade, but I didn't find any bigger capacities with 19V outputs.

Is powering the ONT as simple as using a USB to Micro USB cable from one of the USB ports? Or do I need to source a DC to Micro USB cable to use the 5V DC Output?

I have Googled replacement power supplies for my router and they all say that the tip is 5.5*2.5mm and this UPS has 2.5mm outputs so all should be good with that, however another thread on here about 19V routers said that you have to make sure the "router and ONT's polarity is the same as the power supply" Both the Router and ONT are Center-Positive but how do I tell what the UPS is?

Thanks in advance

I got the Netogy a few days ago. I have it powering my HP laptop, Telkom D-Link router and Frogfoot ONT, it makes it through the 2 hour blackout with the 25% LED still steady on (this LED apparently flashes when the batteries are very low). Centre pin on the Netogy device is positive.
