isnt the charger suppose to manage the battery drain and prevent it from over draining. The last round of load shedding some co-workers bought it for their routers. I'm just worried about the battery discharging completely.
It's overpriced as the battery is not included. You can buy a 850VA UPS from Takealot that has a 9 aH battery and a port for a multiplug so u can charge 2 devices, for cheaperI'm thinking of picking up one of these.

How many amps do your modem/router need? If 12v at 1.5a then they router will at maximum (ie, not typical) draw 18w of power. A 5v 2a powerbank can supply 10w continuous. Modern devices contain switch mode power supplies which include a boost converter - it will convert the 5v 2a to 12v 0.833a (to maintain the powerbank's ability at 10w).
The takealot 5v to 12v booster is exactly what I have used with a router that needed a 12v 1.5A power supply, worked fine via WiFi.
A ups is the best option, but I don't like the fact that the Inverter will be converting current from a 12v battery to 220ac current then my power brick will convert that current to a 12v DC .https://www.takealot.com/lumeno-battery-buddy-12-and-220-volt-black/PLID41395241 remember battery is not included. Rather get this https://www.takealot.com/rct-650va-line-interactive-ups/PLID32714409
just checked their website, too expensive. I got the charging circuit for a samsung S7 from local mobile shop for R80, why should a lead acid battery charger be so expensive.A ups is the best option, but I don't like the fact that the Inverter will be converting current from a 12v battery to 220ac current then my power brick will convert that current to a 12v DC .
The fiber modem is 12v and router is 9v. Finding batteries of these capacities is easy.
All I think we need is a intelligent charging solution that will charge the batteries and supply a constant output.
May be I will give mantech a visit may be they can help, could have checked their website but its is too confusing.
Where do you see that it is 5v to 12v?The takealot 5v to 12v booster is exactly what I have used with a router that needed a 12v 1.5A power supply, worked fine via WiFi.
USB 5v to 12v, see the pic belowWhere do you see that it is 5v to 12v?
I also got a 5v to 9v on ebay, they will probably also have those on Takealot, see the link in an earlier post for the 12v version.

is that Meanwell a power supply or a battery charger?Use an old Mean Well AD-55 51W with a 12ah battery. Last the loadshedding, through. Both my Mi Router and my Mikrotik wifi router outside running on it.
Have you tried ZakSpeed? They will make one for you as you wait in store.
