Router Battery Backup

Not always. I had a real crappy experience late last year, where they dispatched the wrong item, then needed me to jump through hoops to prove it was the wrong item, then not bothering to pick up the wrong item, etc, etc... It took about 3 to 4 weeks of constant following-up before I eventually had my refund.

Same here, I used to be a big fan, referred a lot of people to them, but then I ordered something recently & 2 days later was told sorry its out of stock. WTF!!

This doesn't seem any different to the Sherlo 12v backup power supply. They just market the product for internet backup and therefore add a premium to the price.

Basically ~R650 for everything (the DC jacks are like ~R5 and a metre of cabling is about R11).

Gees, I should make a website and flog the stuff for R899

Think like a true entrepreneur... Buy a container of them from china already made for half the price, then flog them for 999

You guys weren't kidding about the cable length. Luckily my UPS is next to the router.

I've been following this thread... Can anyone please provide the simplest way to extend these cables, and find adapters for larger/smaller/different tips, etc.? Thankyou.

Its such a shame how expensive these dudes have gone! Do you think the batteries are replaceable?

You need this to make up your own extension cables.

Find the connectors at your local electronics shop and use with standard issue ripcord.

Just DON'T swop polarity!!! That could cause terminal damage!!

The Asus is a 19V device. But the Gizzu does have that selection - I checked. What I had not done was check the pin size.

I have a Gizzu 8800, and my one does not have a 19V selector on the DC side. Only on the POE side it has the option of 15v, 19v and 24v. As far as I understand, the Gizzu only goes up to 12V on the DC side.

I also have a Asus AC87 router and was not able to power up that with the 12V setting. I did make another plan to get it to work with my Asus router.

I'm in the same boat. No 19v DC out, only POE out :(

What was your other plan?

Bought me a universal DC laptop charger from Takealot that takes 12V in and you can choose the output voltage. So the 12V power comes from Gizzu and into the laptop charger. 19V out of the laptop charger to the router.

Works like a charm.

Bought one like this from Takealot.

Dammit - I didn't notice that's the POE setting. It did power up, but the small pin supplied did not make connection properly.
