Router Battery Backup

Anyone using one of these? Price seems decent, not sure what the quality is like. Just for router + ont.

I think those are the same as these Elecstor 18W Mini DC UPS 12000mAh - 38WH

It's a 75wh unit, so you should only get 2.5hours outputting 31watts.
jip 75wh if you calculate it yes but not sure how accurate the info is on the displays of any of these ups/power stations can't open it yet to test anything.

Wait, it now lasts for a shorter time than without it in total?
Yes. Used to do 2 hours before fitting the Netogy this week, currently doing 1h30.

But it could just be a case of batteries now being kaput.

Anyway enough screwing around with this cobbled together mini UPS solution.

Getting the 155Wh Gizzu, will definitely run router and CPE for well over 4hours - for when we hit sage 10 ;)

What makes you think your fibre provider will have ability to provide power that long? :(

Did some googling, some in EU can do 200 hours/8 days but other results give a day at most. Would be nice for some of the service providers to say, then again, that might be a secret for various reasons.

Edit: Update: Found this: https://www.vox.co.za/content-hub/article/the-last-mile-of-loadshedding-what-it-really-means/

"“Most of the operators providing these services can sustain them for up to six hours of a power outage at most,” he says. “If there aren’t generators on-site to power the equipment, then obviously the last mile is also seriously affected. If the power goes down, the fibre goes down because the batteries and their backups would just eventually die. This is just one of the problems facing last-mile connectivity.”

More is in the article. Pretty... depressing reading.

Would rather slit my wrists (if not Starlink).

Have you tried them?

R950 for 10/3 Mbit/sec.

This one is a bit cheaper:
