I need advice on the following scenario:
I live in Midrand, Gauteng, in a complex with two floors above me. I am getting Telkom to fit an ADSL line. I signed up with webafrica for an uncapped 4mbps line (I already signed up for this, so please don't tell me i messed up). The total for this service is R549/month on a month-to-month contract.
In terms of regular users it is just me. I will connect my laptop (macbook, if this matters); Samsung tablet; cellphone and PS3/Xbox 360. I probably will not be utilising all these devices at the same time, or i cannot conceive of a universe in which this is possible, but i probably will have 2-3 devices connected at the same time.
I will use the line to stream content via Youtube and Hulu. I am a Youtube addict, streaming Car Reviews and Vice Documentaries - this will happen during evenings and on weekends.
I have never gamed online, but i would like to step into this world as well via this line.
My question is:
I think i have to get a router/modem (erm, which one?). I would like a good quality device and i have soft-capped the amount i am comfortable spending to R2000. But i can spend a bit more if the argument made is good. Forum threads searched date back to January 2014, so i thought it necessary for me to start a new thread in 2015 with the latest devices on the market.
Your wisom/inputs would be greatly appreciated.
