RTX 3080

I ignore Moore's Law for the same reason as AdoredTV...another guy putting FUD into the world. Everything people say and do before I can buy the product (and actual reviews are out in the world) is noise.

Yeah, things are looking decent for consumers at the high end for a change.

I don't think Adored is on the FUD train, his work is well researched, and I also don't think that he is a shill per se, but he is clearly in love with AMD which elevates him with bias.

Moore's Law praat net kak. These guys, like that other Not An Apple Fan or something like that, are recycling rumours into desired opinion by turning assumptions into misguided or partial truths normally supported by some truth or the other to help with credibility, but it all amounts to 'speculative' lies in any case. I don’t think AMD would like these sorts on their payroll, but they don’t mind them either as they are hyping expectation. These people have the potential to turn Nvidia buyers into AMD buyers and to retain AMD buyers.

I don’t see these sorts hyping up Nvidia on YouTube in their quantities as they do with AMD, however there are many Nvidia hype boys on Reddit and other social places.

Leaks and speculation are a waste of time imo. And they often repeat the same stuff again and again. I rather just wait for the actual reveal.
Speaking of which, it's almost Ryzen 5000 time!

I'm actually hoping it's not too much better than the 3000 series. I already have a 3950X and don't need an upgrade, unless it's a lot better and I have serious FOMO.

At the risk of derailing the thread, I kinda want to replace my 3700X with a 10700K beater (in gaming). If I can get that for current 3700X prices I would be very tempted.

Fear Of Matisse Obsolescence

I feel Vermeer will be good but not a big enough delta unless you're comparing a 3600 to a 5800...which I will be :p

Need get x570 board first still stuck x370 and 3700x, but don't think I need it yet m recently ran the cpr tool which overclocked and undervolted my cpu.

MSI Subsidiary Caught Selling RTX 30-Series GPUs at Scalper Pricing on eBay
If there's one thing the RTX 3080 launch will always be remembered for, it's the shortages, bots and scalpers. While EVGA is doing its best to give legit buyers a fair chance with a queueing system, it seems a subsidiary of MSI had a different idea to tackle the issue: Sell RTX 30-Series GPUs far above recommended pricing.

The subsidiary in question is called Starlit Partner, and it sells MSI products through its storefronts at both Amazon and eBay. The company often sells graphics cards for prices far higher than the official MSRP (in this case, twice the MSRP), just like we see with scalpers.

Until yesterday, the fact that MSI owned the retailer flew under the radar, but clever investigative work from a potential customer found that the company's trademark was registered to MSI. In fact, the company even shares the same address as MSI's corporate US headquarters. The individual then shared that information to Reddit.

We reached out to MSI to investigate the claims, and the company issued the following statement to Tom's Hardware:

"Sorry for the late reply, based on our investigation here’s what we found.

Starlit Partner is an individual sales subsidiary working under MSI. They carry excess inventory and refurbished items and would not be given newly released product such as GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. As such, we have conducted an investigation and found that an error allowed them access to inventory they were not permitted to handle.

Starlit Partner has been instructed to contact individual customers who purchased these graphic card products and offer two options –return the product and receive a full refund or a partial refund of the amount paid over MSI’s MSRP."

The company released the same statement to Twitter an hour later, with the addition of the following closing line, "Moving forward, MSI will enforce a stricter policy to avoid situations like this happening again."

I wouldn't be surprised that it is happening elsewhere in the sales channel.

So no attempt in their statement to address the actual problem (which was the pricing)?

Nice.

By address, I mean explain why were they priced that way. I did see the part about the refunds which is the least they could do. Their explanation was, they shouldn't have had the cards to list on eBay in the first place. No explanation about why they were scalping.

Do they price-gouge when they sell these other refurbished items and whatnot? Are those customers SOL or was MSI just cashing in on the demand for Ampere? A lot is not covered in their statement.

The bullschit is within this statement,

and it doesn't get better knowing that the two entities shares the same legal address. An error allowed them, BS, why? Because this is contractual, the mechanisms are legal binding and you cannot simply imply a system error.

In my mind, this isn't a company issue...they wouldn't risk the reputational risk to sell what, like 5-10 cards at double the price. This sounds more like a warehouse dude and an eBay dude got together to make themselves a nice bonus.

Risking Nvidia's anger isn't worth it even if they sold all their stock at inflated prices...they might never see another board again.

It still isn't an error, in the case you are right then there was a breach of terms. Obviously remedies will apply, but that is for internal handling of the implications.

UK supplier Scan has also been getting a lot of heat. People who had the cards in their basket either found it had disappeared when they went to check out, or that the price had increased by £200.

I see with AMD's Ryzen 5000 announcement today they promised that the RTX 3000 GPU, I don't which one, will be pushing 4K gaming @ ultra-settings in Borderlands 3, CoD and Gears 5.

Do not waste your money buying from local stores who get it from some sort of disgusting importer. Charger higher than Local Apple does, i mean, jesus ****ing christ. I would love to know who owns the distribution rights. Cant imagine they run their business very well if this is the route they took, cant be too hard to get them replaced by NVIDIA.

Buy from Amazon or Newegg, both ship to SA, both will include all taxes and other non-sense, and you will end up paying nearly half.

Good luck finding any on either of those sites and Newegg no longer ships to South Africa. Will only be able to compare pricing once you can actually find them for sale on Amazon.
