Rugby 365 : One would expect the Springboks to win by 40 points or more.
Planet rugby : South Africa to win by 30 points or more.
Sportingweb : The -40.5 at LM Bookmaker appeals as a solid bet.
Still trying to track down these rugby experts that were predicting a 100 point plus win...

Oh wait I get it, you are new to rugby and this was your first match. Sorry, man.
Well let me explain... you see today we scored 26 points and Italy scored 0. Now in rugby a large score is wonderful but it is also good to ensure that the opposition does not score too many points. This is called the margin. Now the margin by which you win can be just as much of an indication of your dominance. Now if you look at those above scores you will see that some of them have a winning margin of less than 26... in fact with the previous talk of World cup holders etc above I thought a comparison to the score against Italy after our previous world cup victory may be interesting...

You see here we scored 40 points but we leaked 21 shortly after being crowned world champions... this means the margin was only 19. Yes, to someone new to rugby like yourself this may look good but in fact beating them by 26-0 is better!
Now those other scores may appear real good to you, and they are, but you also seemed to put forward an argument earlier that most experts had predicted a 100 point win. Now this would seem bizarre considering we have only done it once in our history against Italy. And they never had a South African coach, an Australian flyhalf and a token Kiwi and South African in the team before... You sensibly seem to have dropped this argument when I posted the previous match stats and changed your tack. Good move!

Ha ha you guys really are sad! If you look back HenryJ you will note that it was in fact you that first insinuated that I clearly do not watch much rugby. When I do likewise I get told I am being immature and making snide remarks... hmmm....
And Mephisto you said it was for discussions. I came onto this thread to discuss how I saw the game...
PS Henry i am still waiting for the links to those "experts" that predicted a 100 point win!
