US prices list the 6+ 128GB as $949. How do local retailers justify selling it for nearly double that?

We got to get used to these crazy prices I guess... The current exchange rate is not doing us a favor either.:(

People need to state the difference between the official local price and the price that the guys are selling grey imports for.

That's nonsense… but I think you know that.

No its not. Its what drives Apple sales.
you know you want one bwana. In fact you probably already pre-ordered?
Or are you waiting to pay R800 per month on contract?

The biggest dilemma with the iPhone is that one is never sure that one will be able to get another one with the next upgrade. The package you got your current one on may cost much more when it is time to do an upgrade. When I got my 5S a few weeks ago the prices I was quoted differed substantially between VC, MTN and Cell C. I ended up with a MTN contract that was much cheaper than what I was quoted by the other two. So I am with MTN now ... but 21 months from now MTN's iPhone offering might well be too expensive ... and I do not want to jump between networks with migrations every two years just to have an iPhone.

I don't know anymore mate, after someone just forked out R17k for one on BoB...
There's always going to be a few fools who want to be the first kid on the block with the any product and will pay more for it. It's not indicative of all the people that eventually buy though.

Sure, I'll get one but as I said in a different thread it will be when mine either breaks or gets given to one of my kids. My iPhone 5 works just fine with iOS 8 so I don't feel the need. The extent of committing myself only goes as far as having downloaded the coupon from myistore.

Dude did you fall on your head or what? I still cant believe you are the same guy that spent hours and hundreds of posts on MyBB taking on Apple products and bad mouthing iOs. Now you joined the flock? LOL.
I actually feel like looking up your posts from back then to paste some of them here and make fun of it. But I wouldnt know where to start. LOL.

Jesus, those prices will just make it easier for Sony/Samsung/Nokia to price their next phones just as ridiculously.

Fortunately the LG Nexus 4, the IPhone 6's direct competitor, can be had for R5500 :)
