SA iPhone 6 pre-order prices

Dude did you fall on your head or what? I still cant believe you are the same guy that spent hours and hundreds of posts on MyBB taking on Apple products and bad mouthing iOs. Now you joined the flock? LOL.
I actually feel like looking up your posts from back then to paste some of them here and make fun of it. But I wouldnt know where to start. LOL.

Actually he used to be a die hard Apple fan years ago, then moved towards android but kept some Apple devices......so if he goes back to Apple now it wouldn't be too strange.

He's had good and bad things to say about both sides.

I am not sure about Tik Tok, as they make it out that you pay a 5K refundable deposit, they will source the phones and might (or might not) adjust the actual price - http://www.tiktok.co.za/218-iphone-6.html. I think 13K for a 128GB version is probably as good as you will be able to get it if it was legally obtained and VAT, import duty/taxes have been properly paid.

Could buy about three to five Android phones with more functionality for that price

As a fan of the iPhone, this is sad but so very true.

The iPhone 5 at launch was R400 pm incl. 200min and 500MB on CellC - which was reasonable at the time.
The iPhone 6 on contract in SA is going to be priced out of reach of most peoples budgets, including the Apple fanboys.

Considering the launch price in the US has pretty much remained the same - with the exception of the 5c - since the iPhone 4 why do you think the 6 will be any different? Exchange rate?

Yeah I got that deal and it was great, expiring just in time for the iphone 6 but I doubt Cell C will give anything similar this time around,so decided I'll buy the phone cash instead and try out prepaid....if I can live with the hassle of buying airtime.

Maybe not, but the 4 million+ preorders do... ;)

And the majority of those are paying contract prices (from $199 for the 6 and $299 for the 6+) - that's the beauty of always releasing the iPhone at the same time every year.

Agreed!! He should be shot!! How dare he exercise freedom of choice!! My God, the horror!!!

furk me sideways... I would never (with current monetary value) pay that cash for a phone. Doesn't even matter if it came make my bed.

The SP's here are going to inflate the contract prices just because they can.

iPhone 5S 16GB is R520 on Vodacom uChoose Smart S
iPhone 5S 16GB is R429 on MTN Choice 100
iPhone 5S 16GB is R579 on Cell C SmartChat 2GB

They've gone bonkers.

You cannot convert it like that. They earn dollars, we earn rands, you just cannot simply convert it.

I'm indicating that the premium early adopters in SA would pay is more than double what it costs in the US. R16500 vs R7800 in the US... or $1375 vs $650...
