SA iPhone 6 pre-order prices

$650 from US excludes tax. $700 is the closer amount.

I'm indicating that the premium early adopters in SA would pay is more than double what it costs in the US. R16500 vs R7800 in the US... or $1375 vs $650...

I know what you are indicating, but I'm saying the price is relevant to your income, and that's why you cant compare it like you are. The only time you can compare it, is whether YOU (as a person earning rands) are going to buy it in the US, or in SA.

I love gadgets, but I won't pay more than R10k cash or R400pm for a phone. It's insane imo:erm:

Again you people are acting like retards.

These are grey import prices. These are not Core prices.

Stop sharpening your pitchforks.

US prices list the 6+ 128GB as $949. How do local retailers justify selling it for nearly double that?

Imports.

Not being locally supplied.

If you want to jump the queue, then you pay. Simple as that.

This just it really, a pre-emptive clickbait article. Look at previous iPhone releases, the official channel prices are usually a lot lower.

Actually he used to be a die hard Apple fan years ago, then moved towards android but kept some Apple devices......so if he goes back to Apple now it wouldn't be too strange.

He's had good and bad things to say about both sides.

As far as smartphones go I did the following journey:

Blackberry -> iPhone -> Android -> WP -> iPhone

It was a great journey that gave me the opportunity to experience the good and bad of 'em all.

The thing that anchored me in the Apple ecosystem is the MacBook. I've invested heavily into this ecosystem and that has now determined what my tablet and phone choices must be to make things simpler. I will not give up OSX so the rest follows. This does not mean that my criticisms of iOS evaporated or that Android is all of a sudden bad. I can even with all honesty say that Windows Phone 8.1 is a great OS (much better than most think) but Windows 8 on PC and tablet is a disaster.

I also believe Blackberry can make a comeback with their latest devices (Passport/Classic) which takes them back to their strengths.

Choice is a wonderful thing. I want to experience them all but I've come to the point where I need a solid core that stays the same.

Interesting...so then Apple is basically raping us in SA by adding premiums over what the US pays?

These are not Core prices.

And the price in the US does not include state tax. Look at the current exchange rate and you will see our prices arent that bad.

£789 in the UK for the 128g plus. That R14k. And that includes 20% vat. You are being nicely fleeced with these prices :D

Those prices are grey market imports - of course people buying that way are going to be fleeced but they probably don't care.
