To get a win from the ANC is very easy these days. Just sit back and do nothing while they slip on banana peels.

So why didn't the DA just sit back and do nothing instead of making a spectacle of themselves with the press conferences and 48hr ultimatums?

DA winning by-elections every week these days. We are not desperate for wins. The DA bullied the ANC into a U-turn over VAT.

The funny thing is that the GNU has exposed once and for all that there is no "good" or even that much "reformist' ANC to salvage. It has exposed Ramaphosa as the cynical, manipulative ditherer putting party interest first that he's always been.

Slowly but surely, public opinion has begun to shift against the ANC and Ramaphosa, despite the media's best efforts to prevent it.

We're watching the end of the ANC in real time. The infighting has increased to the point that they can't even have a unified response to something as simple as Mchunu attending their "integrity" commission... Their failures are exposed more than ever due to other parties having actual access to government. The ANC blatantly abuses the state to keep tabs on their "partners"... Could go on.

The ANC has even managed to unite parties like DA, EFF and MK on certain issues to stop them (best example is when they all voted together to establish a portfolio committee for the Presidency despite ANC's pleas and against the budget).

The ANC's losses at the LGE will spark the curtain call. Add in Ramaphosa leaving. And you have a collapse on your hands.

I already hear the questions of "BUT WHY DA STILL THERE, IF ANC LIKE THIS". Because the country faces options: cringe, bad or worse.

Cringe is if DA stays in GNU as long as possible to turn some things around in their ministries until ANC kicks them out. Bad is if DA leaves/thrown out of GNU and a MONC passes. Worse is if ANC then decides to shack up with EFF/MK.

So I get the feeling DA is waiting to be kicked, because the other options could have grave consequences for everyone.

I know I'm daydreaming here, but imagine Mkhwanazi declaring public support for a DA Minister or MEC...

Flames, I tell you. They'll have him prosecuted faster than you can say Apartheid.
