SA Politics Thread Part 11: The GNU Normal

Imagine if all the trillions stolen over the years weren't... And they were actually used to uplift communities and build infrastructure.

SA would be way better off than it is atm...
That would have required work though, and you can't enjoy Johnny blue if you have to work.

The only thing that surprised me was that there were people who would vote for a party with Kenny and Gayton as leaders... it's not like anyone can say they weren't aware of the kind of people they are.
But then I guess there are a kukload of people who vote for Julias, voted Zuma into a 2nd term and continue to vote Gwaza MK. It's like voters are unable to see the evidence that is right in front of their eyes.

Statement of intent? 🤣

That did them a whole lot of good when the ANC added more parties, signed more laws the DA fumed over and more.

Story of the DA declaring war on the ANC coming out at 2p.m! 😁🍿

You were saying something about the coalition being under control? 🤣
Zille was under some illusion that the statement of intent made her the Chief gatekeeper of the GNU, her supporters are still stuck on that, hence any party that wants to join the GNU is viewed as diluting the DA's influence.

So cute when you spin your wheels to defend the Newnp and their bollocks.

Ask yourself why the DA is the only party in the GNU that is so threatened by more parties joining the GNU, what are they so afraid of?
VF+ and Rise also. The argument from all 3 is that they can't even get things right as it is with 10 parties, but they want to invite more.

There's no common policy as we've seen with the foreign mess, as well as all the NDR communist kak. So far it's ANC policy, not GNU policy. And the dispute resolution led by the Alex Mafia doesn't even have terms of reference to resolve any disputes.

Can't get the basics right but want to invite more to make the mess worse, because it's all about getting that majority vote. To hell with compromise...

1% parties are just concerned with the disproportionate positions they have been given, if bigger parties comes in Freedom Front will probably be demoted.

Which bigger parties, EFF and MK? I don't recall which other parties outside the GNU are bigger than VF+.

And if either of those two come in, both DA and VF+ bails, so there's no need for any demotion. And it will be the end of the ANC and they know it...

Yes EFF, I don't recall anything from the MK about joining, but if they do join in future a couple of smaller parties having Minister position will have to make way.

Even besides the bigger parties, even if other smaller parties join, it is a threat to them, there will be no need to entice the Freedom Front with a Minister's position if there's other 1% parties.

So the whole gatekeeping thing is just pure selfishness and the DA fearing their influence will wane.

Gatekeeping???? It's in the statement of intent THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO AGREE TO NEW PARTIES JOINING...

Even VF+ and RISE are opposing this.

The only ones outside GNU are EFF/MK. And ASA is more or less equal to the VF+ share anyway.

So I don't know what delusions Champo has cooking this time.

Exactly. What would a 13-party coalition solve that a 10-party one can't?

This is all about a) "rewarding" the stooges who voted with ANC outside GNU over VAT in Budget 2, and b) the ANC wanting to co-opt more pliable small boys so it can steamroller its agenda.

The ANC is the most bad-faith actor in the entire GNU. It refuses to set up a united agenda, because that would mean actually compromising and working with their partners instead of the, tbh, farce we have going on.

And the problem is even if DA has good reason to storm out, our "impartial and unbiased" media would devour them and they'd lose the progress they've made in their ministries, so they can't just leave...

Then there's the EFF/MK angle...

And I can already spot ANC shifting blame towards all other parties in the GNU come election time, and go "GIB ANC GLORIOUS MAJORITY. ANC LIVES, ANC LEADS"
