Spoke to Samsung and was told price would be between R7500/7999 for the 32GB, they also said they won't be getting the 64gig.
Stock should arrive on the 26th September.

I really hope you're right!

Yip those prices would be amazing. However I think it's going to be a little more.

It should be, got my S4 from them and price was correct as given to me about 1 month before SA launch.
Also prices from them seems to be cheaper than networks or shops.

How do you buy directly from Samsung? or is this the Samsung stores you talking about that they have in certain major shopping malls like Gateway?

they should make like the apple stores. you can get a new contract or upgrade there. samsung could make a few extra bucks that way. show me a corporation that doesn't love extra money and i'll show you why zuma must have nkandla upgraded.

No thanks, if they were like Apple stores they wouldn't be in SA and would sell through 3rd parties that just jack up the prices. Samsung has a great presence in SA, they provide great warranty support, we get the stuff when the rest of the world does (mostly), hell their products even have proper Afrikaans support. Apple doesn't give 2 ****s about this country.

Looks like we won't have to wait much longer for the Vodacom pricing....not sure about the other service providers.

Did they mention anything about the warranty? Hoping it will be similar to the S4 warranty

I spoke to Samsung in Canal walk. They will have stock the 26th but the price I was given was R12999. I was going to buy it cash but not at that price :) Luckily my cellphone contract upgrade is the 1st of October so I will see what options vodacom give me.

Well this sucks because it will probably cost in the region of R500 or more per month on contract, seems like I will have to hold on to my Note 2 for a little while longer.

Well it depends if you subsidise your handset or not. I feel taking the one off hit is better than taking a small hit every month. Especially when you upgrade within a 24 month period and your still paying your last handset for 4 extra months.

I know the amount you pay in is dependant on your package (or spend) at vodacom. So You could have a R200 a month contract and pay in R6000 where someone that has a R500 a month contract pays in R2000. The cost of the handset overall is a bit lower since they recover costs through your package so you dont have a retail margin associated with it.

I have the Note 1 still :) I wasn't sold on the 2 but I definitely want the 3. The S View cover is what I am after :D

It's actually not Samsung you spoke to, but AudioVision.

They run the "Samsung Shop" in Canal Walk & will charge you an arm and a leg!

So the price you heard, is a HUGELY inflated price. Just ignore.
