A rough guess would probably be in the region of R10k to R12k, compared to what the S4 sold for when it was released.

I hope it will be a bit cheaper than that, or it's going to be a long wait for a price drop.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with a price tag of 649 UK Pounds (Rs. 66,270 approximately) which is the price for the unlocked version of the handset while the Galaxy Gear smart watch has been priced for 299 UK Pounds (Rs. 30,530 approximately). Both the devices will be rolled out on September 25 for the UK markets

Those are more like iPhone prices. The Galaxy S4 was R8499 at launch in South Africa which was about 500 more than the S3. So the Note 3 wil probably be a bit more than the Note 2 was.

Just crazy.

If this is the pricing, then I'm gonna spend some more quality time with my S2. :D

I don't need a Note 3, but it will be nice....and the same goes for the price.

Well I've made up my mind. If the Samsung 4.3 update comes out before January, I'm keeping my Note 2. If not, I'm getting the Note 3 in January.

I'd say it'll retail for around R9k-10k...

How much was the Note 2 when it was launched?

Nee dankie. That's too much.

I probably get a Nexus 4 for my next upgrade, or the Nexus 5 if it's released.

Why would the 4.3 update for the Note 2 make the difference for you, if you don't mind me asking?

Because the only thing that attracts me to the Note 3 is the new features Samsung added in the software. Other than that I don't really care much about the hardware specifications of the Note 3. My Note 2 can serve me for many more years.

After doing some reading on the web, it seems that the Note 2 might be getting the 4.3 upgrade in October. If that's true I'll be very happy because I actually would like to end my current contract with my cellphone provider when it expires in April next year.

I must admit, I really like the new software features of the Note 3 & can see myself using it a lot.

The question now is if Samsung will port all of it to the Note 2, or just upgrade the OS, and keep the new features exclusive to the Note 3.

I don't know, I guess we'll have to wait and see. More good news however is that a test build of the Note 3 have been leaked. Only a matter of time before the features are ported to other devices.

Interesting comment made by gsmarena:

The loss of weight will be immediately felt by Note II users and so will the increase of the screen resolution. The display on the Note 3 is among the best we’ve used, if not the best.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Galaxy Note 3 is the ultimate in innovation and pushes the boundaries of what is possible with a smartphone today.

Some questions I'm still wrestling with - will I be happy to pay close to a DSTV premium monthly subscription for a phone for two years & do I really really want it, because I certainly don't need it. :)

Pricing will be the deciding factor for me then, whereas to some people it wont, and if you see it as a device that can do both duty as phone and tablet, I guess it won't be a difficult decision at all.

I haven't found a use for a tablet in my life yet, so it might prove to be a difficult decision.

Spoke to Samsung and was told price would be between R7500/7999 for the 32GB, they also said they won't be getting the 64gig.
Stock should arrive on the 26th September.
