I am currently on a Talk 120s package from Vodacom. Do you guys and gals reckon there will be a pay-in when I can upgrade in December? Then I probably can't afford it :(

Both my SO and I can upgrade in December, and she's prepared to take the much loved Note 2 from me, so... Maybe Vodacom will be prepared to give me just one Note 3 for the upgrade credits of both contracts? Really hoping here, as will fall into a deep depression if I can't get this god of a device....

I MUSSST HAVESSSS IT!!!

The Note 3 contract pricing will be exactly the same as the Note 2 pricing at launch.

Think it was R429 or R469 on SmartS?

I just hope that stocks are not depleted by the time I can upgrade in January. I wonder what the cash price will be? Might be another option for me...

If they're out, you'll probably wait 3 weeks or so (that's how long I waited for the Note 2).Which will feel like an eternity :(

I think the cash price will be very high - and you get only the phone.

Might be better to get a contract with it, for the free minutes.

Why not reserve one at your local shop, Christmas is a crazy shopping time. :erm:

*You going for the pink one? :p

I'm with MTN and the local shop is absolutely useless, wouldn't even bother with them.

I'm definitely not getting a pink one. Lol Mine has the be white to go with my white S2, S3 and Note 2. :D

Just 2 concerns.

Galaxy Note III passes DLNA certification & will be running Android 4.3

Specifications :

5.7" 1080p Super AMOLED display
Snapdragon 800 chipset or Samsung's own second generation Exynos Octa platform
3GB of RAM
improved 13MP camera (over the Galaxy S4) with optical image stabilization
3200 mAh battery

I think this will be a worthy upgrade from my Galaxy S2! :D

I was thinking the same thing. :) The S4 is a bit of a disappointment, not having FM, fake shared pixels in the HD screen, and weak battery.

I have 2 concerns about the Note 3.

Will the screen break if dropped? If so, will a cover be able to protect it? S2 seems indestructible compared to newer Galaxy models.

Will it definitely have an FM radio? No Stereo FM Radio, no deal.

Otherwise, I am loving the specs! Can't wait.

Judging from passed mistakes regarding screen breakages, the overall shape derived from the bulletproof S2 and the warranty I think the screens breaking maybe a thing of the past, more so if you wrap it up in that Spigen Case I mentioned.

I've never noticed that the s4 doesn't have a FM radio. I use tunein so it has never bothered me. As for the rest of the "disappointing features", on which website did you read about them?

The "weak battery" thing is bull****, the Galaxies have some of the biggest batteries around. The fake pixels thing is true though and it pisses me off immensely. The S2 was (I think) the last Samsung phone to have the actual resolution it advertised. The S3, S4 and notes all have that Pentile crap where it only has 2/3rds of the pixels an actual 1280 x 800 LCD has, or 1920 x 1080 as the case may be.

2/3 subpixels*

Why does the subpixel arrangement bother you? The screen looks brilliant from where I'm typing this reply...

2/3rds of the subpixels thus 2/3 of the complete RGB pixels.

It does look "fine" but I don't want fine on a top of the range smartphone, I want awesome. Compare a Craptile screen device next to one with proper pixels and you'll see the difference in sharpness if you look closely, especially with text. Not that brilliant anymore suddenly

So a comparison between the HTC One and S4 will show what you mean. I wish I had a One to compare with.

Just keep in mind though that the difference becomes smaller the higher the pixel density becomes. Meaning the difference between a S3 and a HTC One X will be bigger than the difference between a S4 and a HTC One. At least, that's my guess.

The Note 3's display is non-pentile and the pixel density is 386 ppi on the 5.7'' display.

First reviewers claim that the Note 3 display is brighter than the S4's display, so might be a different display Samsung is using.

Another interesting thing to note (excuse the pun!), is that the Note 3 uses a USB 3.0 Micro B connection (SuperSpeed USB) for charging/data transfers.

True, but even if you couldn't see it at all, I'd still know it's there and I'd know Samsung cheaped out and are dishonest about their specs.

Any source for saying it's non-pentile? If true then it's definitely good news.

Agreed!

The more reviews I'm reading about the Note 3, the more convinced I am that this will be crowned best phone of 2013.

Three UK will start offering the Note 3 on 16 September, so I reckon our service providers will not be too far behind.

Canada is getting it on the 4th of October.*

Let's say October to be safe. ;)

*The Gear watch is launching simultaneously with the Note 3.
