Samsung Galaxy S

Hehehe! Awesome! Tell us how many megs a second of recording takes, and the frames per second. I only get 15fps HD video recording on my Desire, but can't complain...the phone did not even have that from the word go...

Enjoy your phone!

Since my dad might be able to get it cheap in India, would it be a good idea to get him to buy maybe 5 of these phones, and then sell the ones we don't want at a more reasonable price than the local importers? Maybe he could also get a good discount by buying several.
Who would buy one from me at, say R6500? (Of course the actual price might change, I just sucked this figure from my thumb for now).
Pity getting in contact with him is difficult right now, and I'm almost out of time.

I want this phone bad and PaulZA's posts aren't making things easier for me :p

Ok I am writing this using swype ! So far this phone is absolutely amazing no sign of lag.not used the camera yet.lol I am like a child on xmas morning!

Lucky you!! Come on Paul, sharing is caring!! Tell us more!

guys. Its here. Im busy unpacking it as we type. Those nice folks at expansys also included a bluetooth headset and a adapter plug for free. Bluetooth headset looks a little old..but hey.. Its the thought that counts! Now. Let me get this thing up and running. More to follow!
Mods - PLEEEEAAASSSEEE ban PaulZA until launched in SA - not jealous @ ALL!!!!!!!

OK. I'm back from the Galaxy known as S. It's been a thrilling ride of discovery! This is the best phone. Ever. Of course I can only compare it against what I know - and that has always been a Nokia. Android is pretty easy to pick up and I think I have figured it out now. LOL. Battery life is yet to be determined... lol.. i was playing with it ALL day yesterday - the inital charge didnt last long - so had to recharge - charging takes about 2 hours. Once charged, the phone lasted about 4 hours - with CONTINUAL use - obvioulsy not a normal day to day operation! So it was recharged again - I used it for about 2 hours before going to sleep - and the phone was still useable for another 2 hours this morning (once again with nearly continual use lol). So it was recharged again - total time between charges was 10 hours, acording to the phone info. So it looks like it will last a full day and a bit with NORMAL/SANE use ;-)

The touch screen is amazing. You've read the reviews and its all true! Nuff said. Took a bit getting used to after my Nokia n97 screen - you need a much lighter touch on the Galaxy screen. Swype is amazingly easy to use - once you get used to it - and im amazed it still finds the right words even if you went to the wrong keys LOL.

The phone is amazing light - I was worried about the plastic back cover that all the reviews went on about, but once its in your hands you dont notice it. It does feel solid.

I havent played around with the camera much yet - took a few pics - recorded some HD video - all looked good. I did experience some playback problems with the video I first recorded - but after a quick reboot that seems to have diappeared and has not recurred, Probably some app running in the background causing havoc. HD videos are huge - as to be expected - I recorded about 10 seconds and its was 12MB - I think. Im not technically minded!

All in all I am completely overawed with this phone. I just wanna hold it in my hand and look at it all day! LOL

Now, back to the Galaxy I go - there are apps I need to conquer!

Lucky you, thanks for the info. The battery needs about 5 recharges before it reaches full capacity. And the video playback is a normal issue on the phone which should be sorted out in the next update. When you take a video it takes a while to cache the data. So you need to wait 5 mins before playing it. Or restart like you did, no big deal though.

Might be a good idea. A reasonable price is 6k, no more. Imported mine myself for 5k...

PaulZA, how long did it take to get your phone once you placed your order with Expansys??

Anyone have any ideas when this phone will be officially released in SA? Phoned a few vodacom stores, I either don’t get a answer or I’m told it does not exist?

I got that also. Then when i explained what it was they offered me a Samsung Star saying it sounds the same as what i explained. I really tried hard to hold in my laughter. :p

Makes one wonder how people can be so clueless about the job they're doing...or maybe it is because it's just a job?

If I was working at a Vodashop, I would make sure my knowledge is top notch and be passionate about what I'm selling.
