Well at least the SG2 will be getting Android 4 - albeit only in Q2 2012

At which time Jellytot will probably be out :D

iPhone 4 got iOS5 at the same time as the iPad and 4S. Too it's detriment though if the battery reports are anything to go by, perhaps they should have delayed it a year as well.

Also in the news: the galaxy nexus is scoring pretty vlippen high, and it has pretty much the same RAM & CPU specs as the S2. Meaning, there's a VERY high probability that the ICS update the S2 is getting will give it a very big benchmark boost. Can I get a "whoop"?

Woop!

Afaik, the SGS2 is more powerful (graphically) than the Nexus Prime having the Exynos chipset.

When it comes to a Nexus phone, Google chooses the hardware, not Samsung, they chose the OMAP over the Exynos maybe for the OMAP's dual channel memory controller for multitasking.

So the SGS2 might be number 1 when it gets ICS but time will tell.

ICS is also optimised for OMAP 4 so we'll just have to wait and see.

I have no doubt that techno-savy SGS2 owners will be able to root and install a stable ICS ROM any day now.

They already have I think, though do you really want to muck around with a half-finished product?

Sometimes yes, you're able to make complete backups of whatever rom you currently have (as well as the apps & app data)

So it sometimes is worth it.

My Desire is getting old now and I seem to be doing this sort of thing more and more, it's almost due, this also helps a lot with performance in terms of battery as well as speed, if you want to go extreme you can also then over clock and under clock, eg: you can limit the phone to a very low cpu frequency whenever the screen goes off which makes a noticeable difference.

I left my phone on idle for about 4 - 5 hours, the battery went down 2% which is worlds better than what I'm used to.

Just saw an article that made me laugh, guess this is the best place to share it: Its about iOS battery life and I guess some of its true but do think they have a software issue as well.

Welcome to the cloud, iOS users

A quick jaunt across the Internet today and I see that Apple is pushing out working on yet another iOS 5 update to address battery life issues. On behalf of Android users and fans everywhere, I'd like to take a moment and welcome all of you to the cloud. It's nice up here -- things sync without wires, your phone knows where you are in case you want to share your location, and updates are a breeze when they're pushed Over The Air. But like all good things, there's a price, and in this case it's measured in milliampere-hours.

Our boss and friend Phil has some sage advice -- plug your phone in. Follow his wise words. I'll also add that buying a spare battery is a good idea ... oh, never mind.

To be honest only idiots wait in line, even if you want the phone in question. As you can pre-order em online and get them on release day as well. Also it has been known that the Co in question sometimes hire "actors" to stand in cue. Create a false sense of high demand to cause more people to go "I want what they getting".

Joke is even when people know, it still works.

Oh we have had line's just not for phones. I remember back in 2005 me and some friends where standing in cue for a midnight release of some game at BT games Northgate. Well we where there for Rage so was not really a camping expedition like you find in the US but it still was a cue to try and be the 1st.

Also remember the same BT games having midnight cue for consoles and other games back then. Dont know if it sill happens but I suspect something like WOW Cata had a cue.

Well, I am pretty sure Android stole a few things from iOS as well. Anyway the notication bar doesnt look or do that much good on my iPad in anycase. Am sure they will need to refine it a bit
