I have a wireless N network at home, but i cant get the sgs II to connect the wireless. It is supposed to according to the specs of the phone. How do I get it to connect?

I had a problem with my phone connecting to 1 of my Acess Points at home. It was connecting to other APs. I did a firmware upgrade to the AP and now it connects without any problems.

Yup ... Netherlands roms was good on the past - give some feedback when you can. I'm ob LPS now and found it very sensitive with scrolling - something I like. Previous LP7 scrolling was as if it had brakes applied all the time.

Sent from my Galaxy S II

Everything seems to be working fine & I could finally select "English (South Africa)" as my default language again. :)

This looks like a keeper, but still early days.

Ok. So I've loaded on ICS LP4... All went well. Phone is running smoothly. However my phone now struggles to pick up my wifi signal in my room whereas before loading it on, it always connected without a problem.

yup, get "avoided poor internet connection" error, despite having excellent signal to my router. I have a wireless access point in my house that's hard wired to my router and it works 100% fine with that, but refuses to connect direct to my router

Hopefully it improves with future updates.

This was my solution after updating to LP7 this morning and having the same problem as described above.

I went step by step to try trouble shoot this issue. I defaulted the settings on my router.
Rebooted and allowed open wireless security with DHCP enabled (I usually run all my networks static).
SGS2 connected fine to the router (wifi).
I enabled WPA2-PSK. SGS2 still worked fine.
I changed the routers default IP (gateway). SGS2 updated itself with DHCP and still connected fine.
I changed changed the router to disable DHCP and enable static. Suddenly same problem on the SGS2 - "avoided poor internet connection" error.
I had to overcome the static IP causing the problem so tried re-enabling DHCP server but now using static IP list based on MAC address. So essentially, it's a DHCP system but I still know the exact IP's of certain devices which is the way I need my networks to be setup.
After making these changes the SGS2 works fine with the router.

Might be of help to someone.

When I upgraded from my Hero to the SII late last year I couldn't connect to my pre-N D-Link WAP at all, until I downloaded and ran "FXR WiFi fix and rescue" from the Play Store. It worked like a dream, and I have used it once or twice since then when I've had WiFi connectivity problems.

First time since I've had the phone that I got a complete freeze and had to do a battery pull to fix it.

Was tweeting quite a bit last night during the EFC and at one stage when I wanted to unlock the phone it was just completely dead. No buttons worked nothing.

Had to do a battery pull and now all seems fine again. Phone bit more responsive again as well after the hard reset.

I've had this once or twice. Just kept pressing hardware buttons and eventually android os said some app had frozen. Then it was fine. It was the same app so I installed it.

Does anybody know when to expect the Ice Cream Sandwich update from Vodacom?

First time ever and was resolved quickly so not too worried.

If I had to post every time I had a "freeze" on my Crapberry, I would fill a thread the size of the threadkiller!

Most probably one of the European ROMs with a bit of branding and the Vodacom wallpapers.

Must say Im impressed with the Netherlands ROM so far. Everything is working fine and its smooth.

Used ICS for a while. Now I am back to CheckRom Revo HD V6. Will stay with it until Gadget Check releases an ICS version of CheckRom.

Still happy with my official ICS Netherlands ROM.

Everything is working, graphics look a bit more responsive (been playing GTA III) and my HD movies and music videos look and sound brilliant.

Very very happy with my "new" phone. :)

I see there's an lpc update out on sammobile now. Just waiting for intratech to post it on xda...

How is the call quality on this firmware?
I have been using XXLPR and now XXLPS modems and it is giving issues of random silence on the caller side and on my side.
Can anyone recommend a solid modem for Vodacom?

Try KL1 or KI4. It has reportedly been the best for SA although I am on LPS now and have no issues.

I decided to give Westcrips AOKP Rom 4.0.4 (which you can get here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854) a try.

The Rom is quite fluid and has a whole bunch of features and extra settings that you don't get in Samsung ICS roms. I will need some time to thoroughly test it to see if there is anything that doesn't work as it should, but so far I'm very happy with it.

It takes some getting used to because some things look very different to what you will be used to. The toggles for things like GPS, Wifi exc. can be customized to look either like switches or buttons (I prefer buttons). A nice feature that I like is the ability to hide/unhide the toggles.

This Rom apart from CM is probably the closest one can get to a "pure", ICS experience.

I will try to give my thoughts on this Rom regarding things that work or don't work in a couple of days when it's had enough time to settle.
